I actually quite like John McDonnell, he’s usually the pragmatic face of the Labour left.
It’d be a shame if this is the hill he chooses to die on.
Signing that statement is a prime example of why Labour struggling to get into power.
Complete inability to read the room combined with the zeal of student politics at the cost of everything else.

The Blairite witch-hunt against the few class-based-policy politicians in labour continues.
Starmer’s threat to kick folk out who compare NATO to Russia really shows his stripes. There is not free debate in the UK but censorious cringing and kowtowing to the logic of capital.
Anyway, Russia’s actions aren’t comparable to NATO’s… civilian deaths are way down, cities remain in non-rubble state , and it doesn’t seem like Russia has plans to teabag the economy for the next twenty years — they don’t want a failed state on their border
Why does mr john McDonnell not take a trip to the Kremlin and have a word with stalin 2.0..
The UK can rattle on about freedom of speech and democracy for places in Eastern Europe yet utterly fail to support freedom of speech and democracy in the UK while never once think about that being a contradiction. Criticise Putin: good; criticise Johnson: Bad. Yet both are from the same sewer of Oligarchical Authoritarianism that fomented a war in which, you can almost completely guarantee, there will be no dead Oligarchs. Instead of actually addressing the fundamental problem of Oligarchs there will be a merry-go-round of name calling, innuendo, calls for the birch, announcements about how Labour *this, that, and the other* from people who know a good dead horse when they see one – and very little else. The people who rail about Putin clamping down on Protest in Russia are the same people who want to forbid Protest in the UK and see no similarity between the two. Mention that it is pandering to Oligarchs and you get short shrift.
Labour was a Party that went from being in debt with a few Large Donors to being in surplus with a mass membership of small Subscribers. Threats against the Left of the Party seem to have come when the Labour Party has gone back to being in debt and chasing a few Large Donors. The reality is John McDonnell having the Whip – or not – is rendered irrelevant by that fact. It is a lovely performative piece all about reassuring Big Donors that the Party can deliver their needs now that the Tories have been outed as shilling for Putin.
Stop the war get in the real world FFS . this reminds me off Chamberlain . Left liberal shit has caused this the west is soft as shit !!!!
He was right to appear at the rally. Stop the War is a great organisation and needed more than ever in the current climate.
