I don’t know why the news didn’t include China’s response yesterday:
**Reuters: Sweden is asking a Chinese ship to return to Swedish waters to help facilitate the Swedish investigation into a recent damage to undersea fiber optic cables in Baltic Sea. Does China plan to send the Yi Peng 3 back into Swedish waters?**
Mao Ning: As we’ve noted before, China has unimpeded communication channels with relevant parties, including Sweden. Let me say again that China always advocates working with other countries to keep global undersea cables and other infrastructure safe and secure in accordance with international law.
– From Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning’s Regular Press Conference on November 27, 2024
The main question will be why did the ship drop anchor where the cable was laid. It will be interesting whether investigation can determine if it was honest accident or deliberately done to damage the cable and try to make clean getaway before authorities got wise.
Will China accept the blame for something that was done by Russian crew?
There’s no way a ship with even a semi competent crew is “accidentally” sailing around while dragging anchor.
we all know, that its not China who is responsible for it. Its russia. The captain of this ship recieved orders (maybe for money) from russians.
We are at war, but still dont admit it.
Good luck with that………
There’s a good chance it was sabotage, but I don’t get why they’d leave their transponder on while doing it.
China should pay for the repairs or this should trigger a Nato response against Russia
Diplomatic staff everywhere, are working harder than ever.

China gonna be like Homer Simpson disappearing into the bush gif
How’s BBC going to quote the WSJ and leave out these two parts?
>The ship’s Chinese owner, Ningbo Yipeng Shipping, is cooperating with the investigation
>However, Western law enforcement and intelligence officials told The Wall Street Journal that they don’t believe the Chinese government was involved.
