If you’re not feeling the magic of the festive season, there’s nothing like a Christmas concert to get you in the mood. From classical greats to sing along carols, brass bands, choirs, karaoke and, of course, a bit of ABBA Gold.

Blast into Christmas – Belval
29 November, 3, 10, 12 and 16 December, 18.30

A series of concerts to get you into the festive mood and a chance to admire the lights and decorations at Belval.

Hear Naomi Trio sing on 29 November and 16 December, Gospel Generation on 3 December, Friends of Song Luxembourg on 10 December and Saxitude on 12 December. Food trucks will be present on concert evenings from 17.00 and you can find more details here.

The Great Christmas Show – Mierscher Kulturhaus

Comedy and music from brothers Dominik and Florian Wagner who together make up Ass-Dur. Experience the whole truth about Christmas and a nativity play you won’t forget, with music on the piano and recorder and old and new festive songs, poems and gifts for the audience. You can get tickets here.

Christmas concert by the Cantabile Choir – Hesperange
30 November, 19.30

Featuring local singers of all ages, the Cantabile Choir has a large repertoire as part of the Hesperange Advent market, taking place over the weekend, with the concert held at the town’s CELO multifunctional centre. You can find out more here.

Winter Concert – Cultural Centre Bonnevoie
30 November, 20.00

The Fanfare Municipal Luxembourg-Bonnevoie also known as Bouneweger Music invites everyone to its end-of-year winter concert. It will be performed by both the Harmony from Esch-sur-Alzette and Bouneweger Musek.

Christmas show – Esch-sur-Alzette music conservatory
1 December, 10.00-11.15 (Luxembourgish) and 11.30-12.45 (French)

Brighten up the first Sunday in December with a Christmas show. Tibor and Lenka have received a magical gift from Santa but the secret is only revealed little by little each year on Christmas eve, with the final magic happening when the two cousins are reunited. A collaboration between the clarinet classes of Malou Garofalo, the flute classes of Päivi Kauffmann, the cello class of Anna Origer, the musical awakening class of Laurène Schuller and the diction class of Fabienne Hollwege, with the participation of Charel Breisch on the piano. ABBA Gold Europe – The Christmas special show – Mamer
1 December, 18.15

Head to Winter Moments at Mamer Schlass to catch ABBA tribute band performing a special Christmas show. Enjoy the live performance with some typical Christmas fare or go skating beforehand. You can find more information here.

Concert de Noel – Niederanven Kulturhaus

A family concert with Françoise Tonteling performing well-known Christmas songs, original pieces by the pianist, Arabic melodies as well as short classical pieces.

Join the University of Luxembourg Choir under the baton of Thomas Gareau at one of three concerts inspired by the Luxembourg Languages exhibition by the Centre for Luxembourgish Language. Hear Luxembourgish, Portuguese and French Christmas songs and a Moravian folk song in Czech. Concerts are free but you are invited to make a charitable donation.

An institution in Luxembourg with four chances to catch them, Voices International will be performing their Voices of Winter concert, which will span musical genres and languages. The concerts will be performed in local churches and are free but a basket is handed around during them so you can provide a donation.

Luxembourg Jazz Voices@Niklosmaart – Place de Paris

Take a break from Christmas shopping to enjoy the market at Place de Paris and hear some Christmas songs with a jazz accent in a free concert, with more details here.

André Rieu’s Christmas Concert: Gold and Silver – Ciné Utopia/Kinepolis Belval
7 December, 19.15 and 8 December, 13.45

Not live but it is the great maestro, with a dazzling concert ‘Gold and Silver’ bringing the warmth of the season to the big screen via his winter wonderland under the sparkle of 150 chandeliers and the Johann Strauss Orchestra, along with special guest Emma Kok. Christmas Carols – Mersch
7 December, 16.30, Place St Michel

D’Union Grand-Duc Adolphe in collaboration with INECC and Puisverband will be performing a free concert of Luxembourgish and international Christmas songs that the audience is invited to sing along with.

Innuendo before Christmas – St Martin’s church, Schifflange
7 December, 19.30

Taking advantage of the acoustics at this church, Schifflange Music will create some beautiful winter sounds in a winter concert full of magic and emotion. They promise to warm the church in advance and food and drinks will be available. The concert itself is free.

Brass band Christmas concert – Artikuss, Soleuvre
8 December, 17.00

The brass band of the Esch-sur-Alzette conservatory will perform at Artikuss, replacing the usual concert at St Etienne (Boxing Day). The band will welcome trombonist Peter Steiner as a soloist who has performed for the Vienna State Opera and Vienna Philharmonic at concerts around the world. The evening’s programme will include works by Ricardo Mollá, Derek Bourgeois, Martin Ellerby, Goff Richards and Sandy Smith. You can reserve tickets by email here.

The Christmas Tree Singers choir – Place de Paris

Plenty of carols to join in with as this well-known choir and the chance to pick up some Christmas decorations or sing along with a glass of gluhwein.

Christmas Brass 2024 – Luxembourg Conservatory
11 December, 19.00

There’s nothing like a brass band to get you into the festive spirit and this annual free concert is just perfect. It allows the students to express their talent but also the teachers past and present to perform. The programme includes a traditional Christmas music repertoire but also original pieces from the Brass Band music repertoire. You can find out more here.

Students at the Niederanven Music School together with their teachers will present the results of their efforts throughout the year, in collaboration with Regional Museksschoul Syrdall. More details here.

A free concert featuring the Stroossener Hueflachspatzen under the direction of Caroline Medernach and the Stroossener Music Kids under the direction of Ben Seil.

With Fruzsina Varga on the flute, Marian Gaspar on the violin, Anik Schwall on the cello and Christoph König on the piano, you can hear Bach, Haydn, Mozart and Händel. More details can be found here.

Christmas Carols with Les Amis du Chant – Luxembourg Conservatory

Vocal ensemble Les Amis du Chant Luxembourg invite you to its traditional concert of carols under the direction of François Theis and accompanied by the Luxembourg Brass Ensemble and organist Laurent Felten. The vocal ensemble will present works by Sir David Willcocks, Edward Elgar, John Rutter, Bob Chilcott, Will Todd, Malcolm Archer and John Gardner, among others, and you can buy tickets here.

With everything from Vaughn Williams to traditional carols, a rendition of sleigh ride, a Japanese carol and favourites like Silent Night and Feliz Navidad. Join Luxicals for their Christmas show. After a long 6 December, Kleeschen and his assistants are ready for a well-deserved holiday but their plans take an unexpected turn when they turn up at the Grand Hotel Wellington. Facing a series of funny and heartwarming challenges, will they manage to save the holidays? Melodic Vibrations – Niklosmaart, Place de Paris

Join this contemporary choir which often sings rock and pop numbers, under the direction of Nelly Pereira, at 15.00 and stay for the sounds of Simply 2 a cover band for Simply Red.
