Yeah but on the bright side our billionaires are richer than ever
Just another 900,000 immigrants bro trust me bro this time it’ll work just another city the size of Leeds and we’ll turn into Silicon Valley.
I like how they stuck a picture of Starmer on the headline there like he’s been in charge since 2008.
I wonder why… *cough*, *cough*… Brexit… *cough*, *cough*…
If only their mates in the Tory party hadn’t spent the last 14 years destroying the middle class, and anyone earning <£50k.
Bosses and directors have never had it so good- the middle classes have had to eat shit and yet many seem phobic of trade union membership – convinced that they’re not being exploited, or something-something immigration.
Who was in charge for the majority of the time between now and then?
Extreme example, but in my profession a newly qualified earns around £60K. In the US it’s +200K USD. I get they spend more on tuition, healthcare, etc. and they probably work a little longer hours. But tough pill to swallow seeing my peers over there as easily millionaires. I’d move if it wasn’t for family.
Ahh yes torygraph… The financial crisis, Covid and cost of living all to blame. Let’s not mention austerity and Brexit eh.?
Yup. Forget about what steaming pile of shit the Tories left us. Fuck them. And fuck the media.
If people actually go and look at the charts, the trend starts in 2004, not 2008. While the economic downturn was crippling and probably fixed in place the problems we have no, it was 04 when things started to go wrong
A picture of Starmer scratching his head in the background. Does anyone seriously fall for that bullshit?
Mass migration, our public sector productivity levels are shocking – so much bloat, and an EU that is no longer a powerhouse of growth (when compared to US) says the next decade is going to be a bleak one. Yes Ukraine (reliance of Russian oil and Gas has and will continue to harm recovery).
I hope Labour realise we need to work very closely with the US and not the EU in order to receive a lot of investment and potential. Since 2008 – the US economy has doubled in size compared to the EU.
Of course build anything, but hedge bets with the US, India, Australia and emerging markets.
Since 2008 the government strategy has been to turn us into a low skill low wage country.
The telegraph using a picture of Starmer to blame him for the 14 years of low wage growth 🙄
The Telegraph are a joke.
They spent years trying to gaslight us into believing that things were absolutely fine and that austerity and Brexit weren’t fucking up the economy.
Now they’re telling us that things have have actually been been getting worse for the past decade and a half and they illustrate it with a photo of Starmer, the guy who’s inherited this bullshit it and who’s only had a few months to try to start turning it around.
Who’s to blame for stagnation since 2008? Could it be the people who convinced us to leave the EU? Could it be Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss or Sunak?
No, let’s tell our readers that 16 years of stagnation are the fault of the guy who’s been in charge for four months.
The Telegraph used to be a serious newspaper.
I wonder who’s been in power for 14 of the 16 years since 2008? Typical right wing trash from the Telegraph
I was 17 in 2008, I’m now 33 and my whole adult life has been shite economy and doom and gloom and it just keeps getting worse and worse.
Nothing new then, Britain always lags behind everyone.
Controversial opinion but I think the government subsiding workers with in work benefits and housing support just allows companies to pay a lot less than they would otherwise have to. Canary Wharf bankers can get away paying minimum wages to their cleaners. If those cleaners couldn’t afford to work for at least double/triple/quadruple what they’re being paid now then those bankers would either have to clean their own toilets or pay others the ‘market rate’ for others to do it for them. If companies had to increase their salaries then the government could even tax them less as the social security costs would drop. What we have is the opposite. Low wages, higher taxes that the government gives back to people which ends up suppressing wages
Weird that Starmer is used in the imagery, it should be every cunt who held office for the last 14 years depicted instead.
Right wingers destroy the country and economy. Every time.
Shame half the population are too thick to connect the dots.
We’re all poorer thanks to right wing muppets and their dumb ass supporters and the right wing media. And don’t forget those who peddled fake anti-semitism against Corbyn, whose policies would have benefitted most of us and the country.
We are soon going to struggle to afford buying foods, accommodation in developing nations.
I remember the days I was able to travel and my little pocket monet could be spent and help improve lives.
Other countries will have to step in to help us at this rate, I just hope they are all generous and forgiving
I didn’t vote for Labour but putting him in the image like this isn’t entirely on the fucking Tories is just classic.
We are attempting to share more and more output with those who provide either no or insufficient levels of input.
Compound interest and taxation alone will ensure the destruction of the middle class at this point
Rich of the Telegraph to run this, owned by a notorious family of tax avoiding Tory scumbags who have enthusiastically backed every move over the past 15 years to rip ordinary people off and redistribute wealth upwards.
what’s the reason to not improve it like other countries? we are in a similar state to a few countries yet they have higher wages, what’s the problem?
