I found this poison (parathion) in my garden shed (from previous owners) and it looks to be pretty dangerous stuff. Where can I get rid of it? Just at the local recycling station or should I call a specialist?

You might want to directly contact the police with this one, pretty sure that stuff counts as a chemical weapon.
Fire department. Call them and they will dispose it.
can always give the recycle center a phonecall, or the police either should have an answer
or redneck answer: throw in campfire and run
Don’t touch it, smell it, all that stuff. Then just call a specialist and ask them what they think you should do.
I’m not sure but maybe a pharmacy might also be able to handle stuff like this.
Shame that the pot can’t be saved and epoxied/clear coated as it looks kinda cool.

Parathion was used as a chemical warfare agent, most notably by an element of the British South Africa Police attached to the Selous Scouts during the Rhodesian Bush War. They used it to poison clothing that was then supplied to anti-government guerrillas. When the enemy soldiers put on the clothes, they were poisoned by absorption through the skin
Well it’s Friday – why not put some of it in your gintonic?
oh cool that’s a nerve agent 😀
Police. They’ll know who to call if they don’t handle it themselves.
Super cool looking bottle btw.
Take it to the nearest K-Citymarket information desk and leave it there.
Id contact local police department, or maybe 0295 419800, which gives non urgent information on emergency related matters.
I think of it in a way that it’s probably nothing, but I’d much rather have the authorities directly tell me that it’s OK to dispose of and how to do it.
