Steve Scott, 42, owns Craft Juice Company, a new business that got its start in downtown Midland this week.
Craft Juice Company offers a variety of fresh juices, smoothies and different types of protein snacks. The business had its official launch on Monday, Nov. 25. There are currently three employees, though Scott intends to expand staffing in the future.
“These are healthy, fresh options,” said Scott. “We’re looking to give the people of Midland and surrounding areas a place they can go to that they can get natural, healthy drinks and snacks.”

The store is located at 140 Ashman St., two doors down from WitchCraft Taproom in Downtown Midland. The business shares an adjacent office space with Craft Hemp Company, another one of Scott’s businesses. He also owns Great Lakes Bay Hearing at 112 W. Wackerly St. in Midland.
Craft Juice Company is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They can be followed on Facebook and may be contacted by calling 989-486-8380 or emailing craftjuicecompany@gmail.com.
Scott lives in Midland with his wife, Candice Colby-Scott, M.D. (42) and three kids, Nineveh (9), Xara (7) and Wolf (5). He was born and raised in Saginaw, graduating from Valley Lutheran in 2000. He attended Central Michigan University and double-majored in marketing and logistics. After graduating from CMU in 2006, Scott worked in the wireless industry for 10 years.

What inspired you to own the business? Having already owned Craft Hemp Company, we already provide alternative health options to the community. I wanted to be able to have a place people could go to and get drinks, snacks that are healthy. I work out a lot personally, and America’s health state is horrible if you look where we ranks with the other countries. Being able to bring an option like this to Midland is something I felt was needed.
What makes Midland a great place to own a business? Midland is a great community. It’s a good family community that really supports businesses. Being downtown with all the events and activities the city has is a great place to be. It gives great exposure to something people may or may not have tried in their life.
What are some ways your business is active in the community? With Craft Hemp Company, we do a lot of charity event donations. We like to do baskets, gift certificates for raffles and such for different benefits. With Great Lakes Bay Hearing, we have provided people with free hearing aids through giveaways and community outreach. Hearing aids are very expensive and many can’t afford them, so we put together programs to get people into a set of hearing aids that they wouldn’t be able to have otherwise.
What are some of your interests and hobbies? I enjoy spending time with my family. I also spend time playing basketball at the Greater Midland Community Center and boxing with Gideon Boxing Gym in Saginaw. I’m also blessed and thankful to have Jesus Christ in my life.

What are some local businesses you work with that help make your business a success? With Craft Hemp Company, we work with a lot of massage therapists and chiropractors in town because we have the same clientele – people who are in chronic pain. We do recommendations for them and vice versa. We have also been able to break the stigma with CBD with a lot of physicians in town. We also work with the Aces In The Sky charity event.
Final thoughts to share? I’ve had a good run with business in the Midland community and I’m very thankful for that. I think Craft Juice Company will give downtown Midland another opportunity to have a unique business that offers health-conscious goods. I think this will help also promote what Craft Hemp Company offers and how it can help them in their personal life.
One thing we’re looking forward to doing is taking the drinks and matching them with people and whatever health conditions they have. For example, someone with inflammation could get a drink with some ginger in it; or during cold/flu season, we will have drinks heavy in vitamin C. We want to take what’s going on in their daily life and give them a solution that’s both helpful and delicious.
