Why is the only fuel allowed from RU? Are the plants Russian design?
I think nuclear power is good, its clean, just needs to be managed properly. They’ll probably never build one here anytime soon though. After 3 mile island (before my time) and Chernobyl (I was too young to remember, read in school) people became afraid of nuclear, then Japan had the accident, I guess Germany is getting rid of all their nuclear power. Is Slovakia really 53% nuclear?
I guess my last question would be nuclear weapons, what would Slovakia think about getting them? To me it’s the only guarantee of safety for your country. I don’t know how else to put it, but that crazy motherfucker in North Korea is only still around because of them (and his dad and his grandpa etc). Why Taiwan doesn’t get them I am not sure, it would be a smart move.
I feel guilty about Ukraine, Clinton promised them when they have up nuclear weapons we would protect them. UK too, and now they’re being invaded while nobody helps them. US/UK armies would have Russian troops dead or out in 3 days.

Yes our NPPs are Russian design. As for the rest, let’s not break our legs running there. (I mean nuclear conflict)

Yep – probably even more. Also most of our electricity is carbon free(about 95%)

Nope. Why have something you cant really use?. We are in eu and nato, thats good enough deterence for any potential enemy.

It’s not that we only allow fuel from Russia, it’s just that they haven’t even thought about getting it from anywhere else before, and this was a yearly supply that was ordered before the war started.. after the wat started our government declared that they want to secure another supplier.
Yes, Slovakia is currently about 53% nuclear and is about to increase to ~75% in the next 3 years if Mochovce power plant’s 3rd and 4th reactors will finally be opened.
As for nuclear weapons, given that we are in NATO which has nuclear weapons and should be prepared to defend us, there is a sentiment among people that hosting them here would only paint a target on Slovakia…
I have to tell you that Taiwan thinking about nuclear weapons is the stupidest thing that you ever said. It would be an extremely good reason for China to come is US style – defending peace and democracy. Also no one will let you make nuclear weapons cause everyone wants to be the only one holding them, and I think even our closest allies would sanction us. (Also no need)
