Will Trump’s plan to kill the EV tax credit help China? The EV tax credit is a pillar of US industrial policy. It ensures that the batteries powering EVs and the minerals that go into them come from the US and not from China. It’s an important incentive in bringing manufacturing back to the US.

Trump’s plan to kill the EV tax credit in the US won’t affect China. China is doing just fine in their development and manufacturing of EVs. Their products are getting better every year. The rest of the world is enough of a market for them. In the US (and to a lesser extent the EU) we will keep on producing and buying overpriced ICE pickup trucks. I am sure China would like to offer their cars in the US but it’s politically impossible (and true of both major political parties). The end of EV tax credits hurts the US.
Yes.
I’m not a huge fan of the EV tax credit. I suspect it’s contributing to higher than normal prices for EVs. Manufacturers raising MSRP to account for the tax credit. I’d like to see some real data though.
Screw it. Kill the credit and allow Chinese imports. That will speed EV adoption like nothing else.
Aren’t the right wing capitalists all about market forces being the most efficient driver to change anyways?
They should stop being so hypocritical about it all.
Trump is clueless, and he appoints people whose primary attribute is loyalty rather than competence.
