Guess he should’ve paid more attention in the taxus evadus lesson in charms class.
Not an accountant, but it sounds like he tried to utilise BADR but didn’t do, or plan to do, the whole “not going back into that line of work for a few years” part.
Grint didn’t do anything and I’d be surprised if his involvement in the court case was anything but his name.
The accountancy firm fucked up here and they’ll be liable for the loss, unless that is that the company trading as Grint had their own accountants to file but it would be very, very unlikely – everybody and their mum’s goes external (for this very reason).
Must be nice being rich, being able to afford lawyers to help you dodge taxes.
Oh well, didn’t work out for him in the end.
Looks like dodging taxes is popular here.
I, for one, am looking to all the Harry Potter themed jokes. Proceed
Earnt millions but does not like paying income tax.
10% and 52% tax rate is a huge difference
I wonder if the other stars did the same but just worked within the lines enough to get away with it
“He previously lost another, separate court case in 2019 that involved a £1m tax refund.”
I suggest that he might want to get a new firm of accountants
Rupert grint to pay £1.8m after failed tax fraud, there fixed that title for you
Ruperts tax bill in this headline sounds like a lot of money but in real terms it’s the equivalent of how much the NHS spent while you read this comment.
Rupert Grint,
once worth a mint,
evaded the taxman and now he’s skint.
On the plus side he is now entitled to free entry to Jack Dee and Jimmy Carr shows
I totally get it. The amount of tax we have to pay is hideous. It’s not worth me doing overtime or even trying to get a pay rise because for every extra £1 I earn 50p of it is taken from me in tax and national insurance.
He’s trying to pass income off as a capital gain by using a company that appears just to receive his income or something.
Means nothing to him in reality as muggle money is worthless. He’ll still have his galleons.
