  3. Forgetting Farage for a moment, it is an interesting question.

    The limit for abortion used to be 28 weeks in the UK, but this was reduced as advancement in medicine and care meant babies were surviving at 24 weeks (where the current limit lies).

    Societal consensus seems to be that when the fetus/baby (or whatever you want to call it) is viable and can survive outside the womb, that’s when things get a bit murky.

    If further medical advancement means that babies are surviving at 21/22 weeks, then perhaps a debate isn’t all that unreasonable considering the precedent.

     But of course the title misrepresents what he said in typical Reddit fashion, he said that because we can now save babies at 22 weeks we should roll it back from 24 to 22.

     I don’t agree with him on this but it’s not that extreme of an opinion as the article implies.
