Questions raised over time-lag on UK moves to sanction oligarchs

  1. Really want to help. Put Blair on trial as a war criminal. That might send a message to Putin that we are in a new era of respecting international agreements.

  2. Because in real world you cannot expect financial institutions to impose sanctions overnight.

It would cause a tsunami of legal challenges and the staff would have no idea what they are doing without an adjustment period.

Yet many want to attack Boris.

  3. I’ll answer them for you: the Tory party has had substantial donations from Russian businessmen. You vote Tory, you vote Putin.

  4. Unlike the EU, UK sanctions are slowly implemented, clearly telegraphed, and designed for minimum impact.

Nice to see Brexit paying off for the people who funded it.

  5. It’s simple, lots of “tough talking” to make the EU look bad whilst allowing their donor chums to get assets out of the country.

  6. It’s probably malice. But it could also be the simple fact that these clowns don’t have a fucking clue what they’re doing at any point in time.
Ever had a manager that doesn’t have a clue what’s going on and just waffles and dithers? It’s basically a whole cabinet of them but they’re also evil cunts that only care about money.

  7. The UK (the tory party particularly) likes to announce stuff to appear like they are doing something, and they use tough words to make them seem patriotic to their voter base. But as always, the devil is in the detail, and the detail doesn’t look good. They have delayed the sanctions to allow their mates to move money around to actually AVOID the sanctions.

I may be accused of bias here…. But I listened to a labour MP earlier as well as the PMQs and they seemed wayyyy more professional in regards to their policy. One MP told Priti Patel to use parliamentary privialage to announce sanctions instead of announcing it on their website…. Because doing it that way allows lawyers to sue. Priti Patel said “that’s a good idea,”.. Not knowing that’s something they could do…. Or playing stupid to allow to dither on sanctions.

Kier said from day 1 to block Russia from swift. Earlier today he named numerous Oligarchs that were frantically running around trying to sell their property, and saying to the government “we will work with you, but we need to act fast”…. Whilst Boris wouldn’t commit to acting fast.

I can honestly say I don’t know how peoppe vote tory and consider themselves patriotic. I don’t know how people consider the tories professional right for the job when their actions show the opposite
