*[…] Employment Minister Alison McGovern said those who didn’t take up job offers could be at risk of losing their benefits, forcing Charles to dip his foot into the employment market.*
*Palace aide Simon Williams told us, “I’ve been helping him with his CV, though the skills section is proving a bit tricky. So far all we’ve come up with is cutting ribbons and opening libraries.*
*“Also, most companies require a reference from a previous boss, but his died in 2022.”*
*It comes after the government this week pledged to increase the country’s employment rate by two million people, though it remains to be seen what line of work His Majesty could enter. […]*
I find it weird that everybody recognises that life is really hard for working people at the moment, yet apparently there are all of these “jobless freeloaders” living the high life?
If life is tough on £30k-£40k, god knows how somebody on benefits is coping
He’s got his triple locked state pension, and if he spends his winters at Balmoral, he’ll get the winter fuel payment too.
Does that mean the royal family will be getting jobs too then? Biggest freeloaders in the UK.
The King has been warned, watch out.
I wonder if he’s warm enough in whatever palace he’s wintering in, lots of pensioners who have lost the winter fuel allowance aren’t.
Aka women with chronic pain syndrome or multiple babies

I’d rather the royalty not exist but even I can tell the Kings job is the worlds most famous diplomat.
if that picture is real and not ai-generated or edited… jesus christ his hands
76 year old man is a jobless freeloader. Retirement age now raised to 80.
So they’re going after the royal family then right? Since they’re quite literally jobless freeloaders (no making an appearance at an event isn’t a job)
Fear mongering bullshit…..
Employment and Support Allowance fell by 5.6% to 1.6 million claimants
Income Support fell by 19.7% to 150,000 claimants

Oh so because you have a couple of family members who are fortunate you think everyone is in that position? Lol.
Increasingly, I’m considering using NewsThump as my source of legitimate news because the broken timeline we seem to be living in is more looney tunes than anything they can come up with and the articles Thump are producing are honestly getting about as believable as anything else the muckspreaders in the media shovel.
Has the King been warned because he’s a jobless freeloader?
Because that’s how the headline reads.
I know the article is satire, but there is no denying there is a problem with people milking benefits, however the real problem is the issue is being weaponised and used to rile people up into the mindset of accepting a blanket reduction in benefits, instead of targeted investigations and proper planning, which in turn will harm those actually in need.
I had the dubious pleasure of growing up in your run of the mill, sad, post industrial shit hole town, and believe me, people who see benefits as a way of life and cream the system are endemic in those areas, and cause huge amounts of derision and tension in those same areas with the people who do want to work.
I personally experienced these people either just via extended social circles, or in my personal life, and was unfortunate enough to have had a relative of my then partner living under my roof for a while that took the absolute piss, contributed nothing, gamed the system in to getting a hefty pip payment, squirrelled it all away and used the “savings” to put the deposit down on a house with their partner. When I got cross with them for not even helping with bills and letting me do all the work, struggling away in a low paid job just to keep a roof over my head and food on the table (which they were happy to eat) they laughed at me and said it was my fault for working, so that’s what you’re up against.
The true issue lies in resolving this problem without punishing the people that actually need it, which unfortunately I don’t think they will ever do, and instead draconian and punitive measures will be handed out wholesale. It’s a problem too big for me to get my head around and I don’t know how they will solve it.
The KING said this?
Isn’t he and his family the biggest freeloaders in the country? Tone deaf.
Back in the day, I found myself on one of these employment restart courses where the DWP would dump long-term unemployed before they cut off their benefits completely. Practically everyone who was on the ‘course’ told me that they didn’t dare go back to work because of they had so many debts that there’s be nothing left of their salary for years. I’d put my two stepsons in a private school when I was flush but, when my job went tits-up, I had to pull them out before the end of term. Due to my jobless status, my contract allowed me to pay off the remaining school fees monthly but, if I moved into employment, the debt was to be paid in its entirety or face court action and further fines. It was impossible for people like me to take on any work without impoverishing ourselves even further.
I wish we would crack down on Corporate thieves and freeloaders, start there.
I’m disabled so on benefits and my partner works full time and yet we scrape by wtf is all this talk of people making bank on benefits some one help me understand because I suffer dearly from my poor health and my partner suffers dearly from caring for me while also working. This is so much mental anguish while also seeing all this talk of being a jobless free loader.
It’s bonkers that the UK is still clinging on to a narrative that just doesn’t exist.
Jobless freeloaders? First of all there are benefit caps and to hit that cap you really need to tick a lot of boxes. Second, what exactly do people imagine that those on Universal Credit are doing with the money? It’s not enough to be living the high life that’s so often portrayed by the media and the uneducated.
The government has really gone to far with this latest attack on benefits claimants. “Give us access to your financials or we will cut you off” and then when questioned, they claimed it was for the benefit of the claimants, to ensure that they are getting everything they’re entitled to.
Bollocks. They’ve been picking people apart and asking why they spent £X amount at Y store on Z date.
Perhaps the government needs to stop firing G4S (or whatever private compan) staff to do the job that the DWP themselves are meant to be doing.
I’m sick to death of hearing about how the benefits system, which is designed from the ground up to punish people rather than actually assist them, is the downfall of the nation whilst we’ve got politicians rinsing us dry on fuel, grocery, and energy prices.
Mabel will probably freeze to death this winter because he winter fuel payment was cut. Derek has a serious illness and receives LCWRA UC payments but because he bought his nephew a matchbox car on Amazon, he’s had his benefits cut and is now living day to day in a homeless shelter.
Imagine free rent, council tax,not working, being paid benefits.
Life would not be great but factor in the black economy of second hand, knock off or stolen goods and working cash in the hand, when you feel like it. Why would you want to work 40 hour week travelling in rush hour just to get by.
