An emergency alert via 112 has been issued for the Cycladic island of Tinos on Saturday, as a major storm sweeping in from the west pounded Greece, causing floods in several parts of the country. The message urged local residents to avoid traveling and follow the instructions of the authorities.

Storm Bora, caused by a low-pressure system over the Ionian Sea moving slowly eastward, is bringing severe weather conditions, including heavy rain, thunderstorms, gale-force winds, and snow in mountainous areas of Western Macedonia, Epirus, and other regions of Northern Greece

In its updated bulletin on Saturday, Greece’s National Meteorological Service (EMY) said western Macedonia and Thessaly will be the regions most affected. 

Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms:
⦁    Central and Eastern Macedonia, Thrace: Until Monday morning.
⦁    Thessaly: From early Saturday afternoon until Monday morning.
⦁    Ionian Sea (excluding Corfu and Paxos), Epirus, Western Sterea: Intermittently until Saturday evening.
⦁    Western and Southern Peloponnese: Until late Saturday night into Sunday.
⦁    Sporades, Eastern Aegean Islands, Dodecanese: From early Saturday afternoon until Monday morning.
⦁    Eastern Sterea (including Attica) and Evia: From early Saturday afternoon until Sunday morning, with peak activity in Attica overnight.
⦁    Crete and Cyclades: Until early Sunday morning.

Gale-Force Winds:
⦁    Central and Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, Northern Aegean: Northeasterly winds reaching 8-10 Beaufort from Saturday afternoon until late Sunday afternoon.

Heavy Snowfall:
⦁    Western Macedonia and mountainous areas of Central and Eastern Macedonia, as well as Epirus: From Saturday afternoon until late Sunday afternoon.
