Ukraine invasion: Vladimir Putin insists Russia’s advance ‘going to plan’ as he praises soldiers as ‘real heroes’ | World News

  1. I’ve been defending Russia and Putin for a long time, and I’m still sure that USA deliberately provoked Russia, but despite all of that, Putin overstepped written and unwritten boundaries and his excuses and rationale is becoming more and more bizarre by the minute. Threatening Finland and Sweden, threatening with nukes and more and more civilian casualties in Ukraine.

But I think all this talk about nukes and him behaving seemingly irrational lately is just part of a plan, plan to try to discourage anyone to call his bluff.

    So what is my proposal?

    1. Stop gas import, I know its not good for us, but we’ll survive, and he won’t, and wait a bit, to see the effect
    2. In the meantime prepare a large task force of military on Ukrainian borders(volunteers only) and once its assembled and if cutting gas supplies won’t do the trick, just go in to Ukraine, on request of Ukraine, if Russia engages, then we answer, but only on territory of Ukraine, there is no way hell fire nukes if we don’t threat territorial integrity of Russia
    3. Tell Russian people, that sanctions are staying in place, until they have democratically elected government

Is it a bit risky? Maybe, but not too much, he is just as handicapped as us, when it comes to nuclear weapons, and this just has to stop, and we must be the winners, otherwise future is dark.

  2. It seems Russia’s initial strategy of going with a light forward operating team was a serious miscalculation. Russia clearly didn’t factor that it is dealing with the largest intelligence aparatus in the world supporting the opposing forces. It made a daring move to capture Hostomel Airport with a squadron of about 35 helicopters and a deep drop of Spetnaz forces. This lost them about 5 aircraft in that operation as Ukranian SAM’s engaged them flying low over the dam river about 10 clicks from the airport. Whilst the operation was a success in giving a deep foothold next to the capital Kyiv, it came at a relative cost.

The initial round of cruise missile strikes at the start of the operation with Kalibr cruise missiles had limited success in depleting most of Ukraine’s air force and a majority of their SAM platforms. A few scattered SAM’s they however missed caused them some losses.

The biggest weakness in the starting phase also included lack of convoy coverage with helicopters and fighter jets. The long lines of convoy columns exposed their flanks, allowing Ukranian forces to engage them with Javelin & NLAW missiles. It seems Russia is currently regrouping and recalibrating it’s forces. It will be niave to rule them out as they reorganise their strategy. We can expect to see a slower movement of it’s forces with better coverage. As we saw in Syria, once they get their Krasnopol artilleries in secured and consolidated positions, they have an effective strike range of up to 30km using Forpost UAV’s with laser designators. These provide pin point accuracy at rates that Drones cannot replenish from behind a relatively safe distance from the action.

This conflict is only getting started am afraid. As we saw in Syria, Russia had a chaotic start but once they calibrated their positions, ISIS had a tough time in Palmrya, Damascus provinces and the Idlib area.
