Tuoni, lord of the dead and spinner of the threads of iron. He spins in the summer and weaves fishing nets in the winter, while sitting on a rock by the river of Tuoni. He has three fingers on each hands and wears a large hat made out of darkness itself. He’s accompanied by the Tuoni-worm (the serpent).
Tuoninpoika, Tuoni’s son, is hanging upside down by his father. I imagined him a bit playful, messing around getting himself stuck in one of his father’s nets. Normally, he is responsible for casting the iron and copper nets in the coal-black river to catch lost souls, and keep people from escaping Tuonela. He has iron fingers and rosy cheeks.
