  1. Perfect! So now we pay more for the useless product![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_good_man)

  2. But he is also lowering other taxes like income tax to offest those tariffs

EDIT: I forgot I’m on reddit, I’m going to get downvoted to hell for saying something good about Trump haha

  3. All politicians are there to make themselves wealthy middles class poor are there to fight for them who is better.. 😂😂😂

  4. Mark my words, Trump is shouting “tariffs!” to throw people into a panic before he takes office. Then once he gets in, he’ll say the countries in question will all have somehow negotiated to his terms and he won’t enact them. Then he’ll want praise for not doing it.

  5. I personally would love to see all the garbage consumerism decline, but it’s not always the case consumers respond rationally.

  6. That sounds a lot like the argument the other side uses for higher corporate taxes….

  7. Dear leader would never do this. It’s Bidens fault, he worked out a deal when the tariffs are applied Chyna is going to raise prices. Damm Democrats.

  8. The point is to make the foreign goods expensive enough so you don’t buy them. If you insist on buying them and not finding an alternative (and there will be an alternative) you are making the choice of paying those taxes. Stop being loyal to companies if you can’t be loyal to your country.

  9. Im not in favor of prices going up under any political administration. Inflation is a tax.

I just want to point out how funny it is that when inflation was raging under Biden they were all clamoring about it being transitory, because of supply chains, because of corporate greed. Never once considering it might be due to record fiscal spending, and certainly never once referring to Biden’s inflation as a tax.

I’ll speak out against either party if inflation goes up. These joker-ass talking heads on Twitter and cable news clearly only point out inflation is a tax and problematic when it’s politically convenient.

  10. Is the intention to force companies into brining back manufacturing to the states? We keep bending the knee to China over our mistake of using cheap labor for our pleasures. Why is China growing faster than the states and we are miserable with pay and job opportunities? I’m all for bring back jobs both blue and white collar. Is this the way?

  11. Idiot Dems thinking they are on the right side of the anti tariff argument. The reduce tariff movement was lead by multinational corporations seeking cheap labor in places with no environmental regulations. In the US productivity gains were tied to gains in average income till the 60s and 70s when slashing tariffs got out of hand. Dems and republicans sold out workers to help multinational corporate bosses who would contribute to their campaigns.

Real Democrats should be saying it’s about damn time someone did some thing about tarriffs.

  12. Perhaps you’ve never heard of substitution. Or a company offsetting some of the costs.

  13. This is why we should end auto tariffs on China. Who cares if the US unions get decimated.

  14. I voted Trump but am now suddenly regretting it because of the left on Reddit. It’s very convincing.

  15. Is this pro/con assessment on the right track? If imports are taxed, either (a) the consumer buys the imported product anyway, in which case the con is that the consumer has spent more but the pro is that the U.S. Treasury collects the tax and either uses it to offset debt or puts it back into the economy, (b) the consumer buys a domestic alternative instead, in which case the con again is that perhaps the consumer has spent more but that U.S. production and labor demand are stimulated, or (c) the consumer buys nothing at all, in which case the con is that no money has flowed in the economy but the pro is that the consumer has saved.

  16. OMG, RUN, RUN, RUN
    =

Grab your passport and head for the airport.

Get a direct flight to North Korea where they care about human rights.

Trump is going to destory the entire universe on DAY ONE!
    =

  17. From my understanding, the 25% tax is only on the price when imported, not retail price.

If something costs $10 to manufacture and retails for $100, the tax won’t be $25, but would rather be $2.50 extra cost increase (25% of $10). Going from $100 -> $102.50 is only a 2.5% increase which is still an increase, but NOT as extreme as going from $100 to $125
