Hey there, just wondering if anyone can help me out? I’m confused about which of the two right turn lanes in Upper Galwally get the middle lane in the picture below. Thanks!

  1. This fkn junction I swear. Let’s say when it’s a 3 lane road the lanes are 1,2,3 Left to right.

    I always just watch myself but it feels like the left lane should always stay left (1, going into forestside for example) and the right lane can either go straight into the middle (2) or into the far right lane (3).

    I’m not sure though and I tried to look this up before in the highway code etc. The odd time some wingnut swerves across from the left to the middle (in a way that really cuts the imaginary ‘corner’). So I may be wrong but I always just take care and have my foot primed on the brake on this particular one.

    Edit: so yeah, I read it as the right lane gets priority on the middle. Feels that way driving into it, too.

  2. I’d take it as left goes into lane 2 and can then move over until lane 1. Right only has access to lane 3. The reason for this is lane 3 _definitely_ belongs to right but lane 1 does not _definitely_ belong to left, and so left will have to take priority of lane 2.
