Informed people who have listened to him speak about Ukraine and russia know exactly what Lex Fridman is. Behind the coy “public intellectual” veil, he’s a pretty typical russkiy mir shill.
It’s the same “brotherly nations” bullshit, but with a techbro hippie gloss that always manages to imply that Ukraine should surrender (recent pre-election tweet: “Keep warmongers out of government”). He is gleeful best friends with multiple oligarchs who have successfully led the dismantlement of truth and trust in institutions (Musk, Rogan, Zuckerberg). He has a deep longing and open obsession for daddy putin, and his longstanding wish to interview him has gone unrequited thus far. And he has of course an extensive history of clownish “both sides” disinformation about Ukraine, including trying to spin Ukrainian historian Serhii Plokhy’s words towards confirming russian propaganda during his podcast in real-time.
Fridman actually came to Ukraine in 2022, which he publicized for his gullible flock as some kind of grand investigation of the “real truth of the war” – but then never published any material about it. It’s obvious that he came hoping to get some nice gotchas that he could use to confirm his anti-Ukrainian disinformation campaign but failed miserably.
I will not be surprised if he debuts his long-awaited putin interview directly following a Zelenskyy interview to make sure that russia has the last word and suck more idiots into the disinfo pipeline.

Who is Lex Fridman?
I hope they prep him properly. I feel like he doesn’t have advisers who can inform him about cultural differences with the West. He communicates in a way that Westerners don’t understand, there’s just too much implicit context. I want everyone to see from his interviews that he’s a great leader and Ukraine is fighting the good fight for the entire democratic world. He needs to make sure people stick around and listen to him all 3 hours.
It reminds me of myself when I was newly immigrated and assumed that people in the U.S. understood the basics of our region and the issues Russia creates. Well, surprise, surprise—they really don’t. Most folks don’t know anything about Holodomor, Soviet crimes, Russian colonialism, or the Budapest agreement. You need to spell things out for these folks, President Zelenskyy. Please find someone good at intercultural communication so that you know how to appeal to Westerners, who often don’t even know geography, let alone any historical context, current war crimes or future risks Russia might pose.
They need to hear that Russia has been doing what terrorist organizations do for 2.5 years every day in Ukraine! All the rape, all the civilian targets, all the children’s hospitals, all the torture and kidnapping of tens of thousands of children! They need these things highlighted. People are very uninformed here!
Dear President Zelenskyy, Please reconsider as this is beneath you and your office.

I’m going on record saying Zelenskyy is making a huge mistake by doing this. There is something really not right with Fridman.
He truly stinks as a pod host, so his following does not track. He is also very tight with Rogan, by the way.
If Zelenskyy insists on meeting him in person, which imo is highly unnecessary and suspect in and of itself, he needs to put extra security on duty and not touch Feidman.
I just have a bad, bad feeling here on a few levels.
