  1. So it can be done en masse.

If you don’t announce the flights for some PR stunt, less people can object and get in the way.

Only a few hundred thousand more to go I guess. Those aircraft going to get worked.

  2. I object. This country needs more Latinas. What are you doing, Starmer?

  3. The guardian getting mad at the government for doing it’s job.

  4. These people see us as mugs lol, check this out:

    >“The government must respond to our requests for fair, affordable and safe routes toward citizenship and settlement for the many communities who have laid down roots in this country,” coalition members said.

So we should be offering safe routes towards citizenships for people who had no legal authorisation to live in the country due to overstaying their visas?

I understand domestic violence is awful, but when did that become a valid reason to seek asylum? Especially if you’re from Brazil? These people are joking, right?

  5. They were people who applied to **voluntarily** return to Brazil in exchange for £3000 of taxpayers’ money **each**. This is mentioned in the article – but not the headline. Also, they were not “deported’. Deportation is a specific term used for serious criminals against whom a judge has made a deportation order.

  6. Hopefully a few planes for the ones who don’t want to integrate coming soon. It needs a lot more people leaving

  7. > “The government must respond to our requests for fair, affordable and safe routes toward citizenship and settlement for the many communities who have laid down roots in this country,” coalition members said.

People should probably only lay down roots in a country in which they have a legal right to live in. Bit precarious otherwise.

  8. This seems shortsighted, Brazilian migrants pose zero threat to social cohesion and I doubt that MI5 has spent a single penny tracking Brazilian extremists. But they don’t have any political power or powerful community groups/activists, so they are seen as a soft target for deportation.

  9. Why do people here illegally get a £3000 (or up to £3000) ‘sweetener’ to leave?!

Edit: on second thoughts, I expect it’s something to soften the human rights groups.

  10. Labour quietly go about actual deportations rather than the previous government’s method of rhetoric in the media while doing nothing other than pursuing vanity projects and, yet, people still have found a way to be angry about this.

  11. In the words of George Dubya Bush: how many is a brazilian?

  12. Man United need to get Antony on one of these flights

  13. Knowing how Brazilians are( because I am one), they will take the £3000, enjoy a holiday there, spend the money and come back again 😀

  14. I’m sorry, up to £3000 for a “voluntary” deportation? That’s the real scandal in this article. We should NOT be paying illegal immigrants to leave our country. And there’s no such thing as *voluntary deportation* ffs.

  15. OK, I think I might be on to something here:

Step 1: Get your way into the UK
    Step 2: Overstay your visa
Step 3: Collect £3k and a free flight home
    Step 4: Repeat steps 1 to 3
    Step 5: Profit!

  16. I’m a little sceptical on this, illegal is illegal sure, but going after South Americans seems a bit easy, what about the boat people from Africa and the Middle East? There’s for more of those illegals than South Americans, Good that Labour are deporting but I also feel that they think by lowering it to just 400k-500k a year that they’ll see this as a win and “smashing the gangs” while the public wants immigration under 100k ie back to pre 1997 levels

  17. It really pays to cheat the system doesn’t it. £3k of our money

  18. Just trying to pretend they’re doing something when the numbers coming in are so massive, 600 is a tiny, tiny tiny percentage of the problem!

  19. Because when I think about the amount of illegal immigrants in Britain it’s the Brazilians that spring to mind first 😂

  20. They really want uk to be an islamic state not deporting islamists.

  21. 600 Brazilians? There’s not even that many people in the entire world!

  22. Fucking hell some of these replies. This sub is becoming worse than Twitter

  23. Why are we paying them to leave? They’re here illegally, we should be setting up payment plans for them to cover the cost of the plane.
