Elon Musk erupts over California plan that could cut Tesla from EV tax credit. California will relaunch its program if Trump ends Biden’s $7500 EV tax credit, which Musk has said he supports. The program would be aimed at helping carmakers with smaller market shares. “This is insane!” wrote Musk.

  1. It’s not insane at all.

We need a healthy competitive EV market. And having a single manufacturer with half the EV market led by an unstable weirdo that hates his own daughter is not a healthy EV market.

So it totally makes sense to help the other companies build up their manufacturing scale to mass market levels so there is robust competition.

  2. The old adage “be careful what you wish for, you might get it” might apply here. After that it’s just high time that Elonia just f*ck right off.

  3. I mean Tesla can’t get the tax credit cause the owner works for the federal government. There must be a law where federal officials can’t benefit from federal tax money

  4. I give Musk about 6 months after the start of the new administration before he ends his romance with the federal government. I figure he’ll leave out of some combination of getting bored with how slow things move, throwing a tantrum over not getting his way, and Trump’s reticence to share the spotlight with anyone else.

However, that’s probably enough time for him to secure billions worth of lucrative government contracts for Tesla, SpaceX, Starlink, et al.

  5. This is political pandering. There is no budget in California to take over the $7500 credit at the state level. If California does create an EV credit, it will be restricted to a small percentage of sales to low income residents. This means it won’t have a significant impact on EV sales for auto makers.

  6. Exodus from California with Twitter and tesla then they return the favor is actually really predictable.

  7. “It’s not fair…. Whaaaaaaaa”

So says the richest man in the world, who gained his wealth off his daddy’s apartheid gem mine, is an illegal immigrant, and literally bought one of the worlds largest social media companies fired most of its employees promised to ensure “free speech” and started banning people for calling him the First Lady.

The man is a child with more money than any one person should ever have… he deserves anything and everything bad that happens to him… including late 1700’s French methods.

  8. Never underestimate the auto workers unions power.

  9. Musk, Trump and his MAGA cult members are about to FAFO. The blue states will fight these bully idiots with brains and chess moves.

  10. Why do EVs need tax credits? Let the free market decide if the car is worth the expense.

  11. We should actually end the clean air credits Tesla sells. No reason to subsides tesla anymore.

p.s poof 90% of profits (last quarter was less i think).

  12. We all should be thinking how we can screw this guy over everyday , spaceX, starlink, solar, etc. just make him pay

  13. Yeah it’s insane for someone to have a federal job while he is CEO in two companies. Fed employees can’t have a second full time job.

  14. Musk is what he is, and we’re headed into a period of cronyism and graft that hasnt been seen in the US for generations. It’s still deeply troubling to see the government picking winners and losers.

  15. >“This is insane!” wrote Musk.

Everything he’s involved in has insanity as a feature.

    He brings chaos to everything.

  16. How will musky become the first trillionaire if he can’t sell his teslas?

  17. and CA should outline all of the details exclusively on BlueSky

  18. Ahhhhh, so the truth about climate change is finally spoken…

It’s all about the government picking winners and losers.

  19. You can count on the majority of party voters to treat politics like a football match.

While musk is wrong on many items, excluding tesla because you don’t like the politics of its owner is, in fact, insane.
