If a tiny proportion of the population wish to indulge in niche hobbies, why should everyone else pay for it?
There so many better ways to spend tax payer’s money.
Funding lovies is not it.
Are the people who support tax payers funding their hobby, the same people who support illegal immigration?
Actions have consequences.
Going to go with what Churchill said when chamberlain’s government wanted to cut all funding to the arts to boost the war effort…. what’s the point in fighting for our traditions if you do?…
I’m not Welsh but will chime in. The greatest explosion of mass British creativity, talent and arts happened in the 60s specifically because arts schools where funded and the dole was strong. Foster art collages and make it so people can live on very little money but be creative and I guarantee we would see more arts up and down the country and in Wales
If the arts ( big area I know ) can’t be self funding then why should they be propped up by taxpayers money ?
Yes! Enough of these thespians getting money for nothing. I mean what have the arts done for us? It’s not like culture plays a big part in Welsh life or history now is it?
I mean, if it can’t pay for itself, what’s the point of it? I only value things that I can attach a monetary value to. What do you mean the creative industry raked in £124.6 billion in 2022? I thought it was all badly acted Richard the Third rehashes in scout halls?
The land of song can go stuff itself, I’m only interested in what’s on netflix. What do you mean that’s the Arts?
The sad, sad truth is that after 14 years of austerity, Brexit, Covid, budget cuts and that Truss abomination money is not as available as it was and other things like education, health and the housing crisis must take priority.
a travesty there’s barely enough welsh art and performance as it is
