This fall has been grim for Ukraine. According to our assessment, between 1 September and 30 November, the Russians captured over 1600 km2 in Ukraine, and retook roughly 500 km2 in Kursk. The rate of advance accelerated every month, despite the Russians suffering heavy losses. 1/ [thread]

  1. Too many people in this sub are going to be in for a rude awakening in 2025. Turns out, describing the reality of the war is not “Russian propaganda”.

  2. Ukraine needs to knock out the bridges over the Oka River and the Volga River to win the war.

  3. Ukraine needs to mobilise more men and get them in the field, and the west needs to supply more weapons.

  4. Theyre hoping for a ceasefire with the new administration. Meatwaves till inauguration. Freeze the war. Then rebuild their armed forces and wait for an opportune moment to restart.

  5. Honestly i dont blame them for taking a hyper defensive stance… they were probably thinking the russians would ease the pace and adjust to urban warfare but they keep on moving west… better to give up some land for some time right now… but obviously i dont know the real numbers or status of the UKR army is…

  6. In the big scheme of how huge Ukraine is, the amount of men and hardware lost for that little amount of land is ridiculous.

  7. It was a huge boost with North Korean and trump won the election

  8. Trading space for time is defensive tactics 101. Pretty standard stuff when overnatched.
