Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha met with Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Deputy Prime Minister Rikka Purra in Helsinki during his official visit to Finland on November 28. The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral ties, and both sides highlighted Vietnam as Finland’s key partner in Southeast Asia, focusing on areas like energy, education, IT, and the environment.

Finnish president Stubb expressed interest in expanding cooperation, particularly in sustainable development and green economic transformation. Ha emphasized Finland’s role in supporting Vietnam’s move towards a circular economy and net-zero emissions by 2050. The two leaders also discussed multilateral issues and the importance of international cooperation on security challenges.

Ha proposed greater access for Vietnamese companies like FPT and VinFast to the Finnish market and urged faster ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement to boost trade. He also called for increased scholarships for Vietnamese students in Finland, where over 2,500 currently study.

Earlier, Ha met with Finnish ministers to discuss collaboration on clean energy, digital transformation, and labor.
