Erdogan and Putin smoke amd mirror show, so Turkey can finish off the US supported Kurds! Tose SOBs have been working behind the scenes.
I don’t think there was a belief (illusion) that Assad had a tight grip on Syria, I think the surprise for those not closing watching Syria lately was that there was enough of an organized opposition capable and willing to act. Anyone claiming Assad is the “good guy” or the lesser of two evils isn’t really a serious person, but if the opposition is able to eventually take significant control there is a lot of uncertainty of how life will be like for those living there.
Gee I wonder who the top funder of Syrian rebels are?
In their defence, Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are all a little busy right now.
Assad is looking skinnier these days
That evil cunt Assad should have been topped by a US or UK missile strike right at the beginning of the Syrian war, saving hundreds of thousands of innocent civilian lives. I hope he gets the Mussolini or Gaddafi treatment very soon.
Of all the arbitrary lines drawn by world powers in the middle east, Syria and Lebanon are the worst. Both countries are deeply divided internally and can only be held together as a nation artificially by force.
I wouldn’t say they “let their guard down” so much as had their guard demolished by the Israelis after provoking them for a year.
Asad and company deserve the Gaddafi end
They depended on Ruzzia for regional security. Ruzzia was so sure Ukraine would crumble quickly. Not.
oops
“let their guard down”, how about “tank is empty”.
