> Thanks to Putin, Germans now support current measures against Russia even if there are energy shortages (68%), higher energy prices (66%) or if German companies are disadvantaged (65%).

71% of Germans also want a speed limit on Autobahn. But not the rest of Europe
I don’t agree that every nation individually splurging money they don’t have on their militaries now is the correct solution. The far more economical and forward thinking course of action would be intensified efforts toward a more unified EU military.
An insane shift in public opinion.
This an absolutely exceptional shift in public opinion. Something like this was considered to be impossible ever since the cold war ended.
The reason why the 2% promise didn’t work was that it went against public consensus. Without widespread public backing, it was always doomed to fail. Putin just changed all that overnight.
As a eastern European ~ are we fucked?
61% support WWIII.
so the pool saying 65% of russians supporting Putin is propaganda and this instead comes from the Ministry of Truth i wager?
This is just my own gut feeling, but if you took out the far left and far right party affiliated people, I think the number of Germans who support giving arms to Ukraine is in the high 70%, low 80% range.
From the Greens like myself, FDP, even my CDU friends, everyone I know says give them weapons and use this window of political opening to cut out Russian energy and force an even faster transition to renewables.
They do have some unfinished business with the russians and this time they are on the good side.
