Kenny (Lab) was elected on the 17th count, with the gap at 35 votes, at which point Barry (PBP-SOL) sought a recount which is underway.
KENNY, Eoghan LAB 7,461
BARRY, Mick PBP-SOL, 7,426
Ken O’Flynn above both is the big joke from the constituency though.
A massive waste of space on Cork council becomes a massive waste of space in the Dáil. Another FF ‘independent’ from a family with a history of very dodgy dealings
You’re talking about transfers now which is a bit of an odd argument to make, seeing as there’s often comments about “ you don’t have to vote all the way down the ballot.”
Poor Mick, looks like he didn’t get the transfers.
Solidarity have lost a lot of momentum.
People who don’t vote think there’s no Number 1’s. Every candidate is a Number 2.
I tend to agree, though I did vote.
Absolutely no one I voted for got anywhere and they weren’t mad far right. They just weren’t ff fg or sf. It fair feels like there’s no point.
I will vote. I’m not stopping like.
Somebody elses vote mattered but not mine.
Fuck Labour.
Never trust a man with two first names.
two men with four first names?? I am at a loss for distrust!
In 2019 Holly Cairns was elected to public office for the first time winning a Council seat by a single vote. Within 4 years she had won and subsequently retained a Dail seat, becoming Leader of a political party along the way. Whether in Government or not the Soc Dems are poised to play a significant role in politics over the course of the next Dail.
Back when she first ran, I donated €50 to her Gofundme campaign and was delighted that she then managed to defeat a thick local gombeen bollocks by that single vote. I like to think my money was well spent.

Everyone? OK, but you’ll have to give me some time
Wait is this the latest recount??
Yea it counts but given both a left. Its not really that big of a deal
I voted Labour +1 over PBP, I feel guilty.
(No flame war please)
Hopefully, the recount affirms the original decision.
For what its worth, the above screenshot appears to be the result of Count 15.
