I guess she meant stop giving “arbitrary” money and build factories, deliver larger amounts of weapons instead, or send infrastructures workforce and technical experts. Basically: Build for the long run. She’s also right in questioning U.S future: If Russia wins U.S will not only lose it against the new axis but will also lose a large part of the EU partnership and trust. Definitly. And all this can happend in less than a year.
This is very unfortunate, and it exposes the weaknesses of our democracies: for politcal gain or even mostly political preservation, no risk, no hard decisions, are taken.
Imagine what will happen if Russia overruns Ukraine and annexes the territories and people, or makes it a vassal state. All the impressive weapons production and skilled, innovative and creative population will now be an asset to Russia, and will be forced to be a part of Russia’s continuing aggression towards Europe. We will need to invest billions and billions in defense and building up military capabilities. It would be orders of magnitude more costly than supporting Ukraine with everything they need NOW.
Ukraine is a once in a millenium opportunity for somebody else to do all the work to vanquish a threat and bring lasting security. All we have to do is stand back and give them the tools. It is also a huge opportunity to learn 21st century warfare.
Yes we know, is it really necessary to post essentially the same quote almost every day in this sub?
