  1. >During her “60 Minutes” interview, a clip from “E!” was played in which the on-air host said Winslet looked “a little melted and poured into” a dress she wore during “Titanic’s” awards season run. The host added that Winslet “needed two sizes larger and she’d be ok.”

    >“It’s absolutely appalling,” Winslet then said about how the press bullied her over her weight at the time. “What kind of a person must they be to do something like that to a young actress who’s just trying to figure it out?”

    >When asked if she’d ever confronted the press for bullying her, Winslet responded: “I did get face to face. I let them have it. I said, ‘I hope this haunts you’.”

    >“It was a great moment,” Winslet continued as she fought back tears. “It was a great moment because it wasn’t just for me, it was for all those people who were subjected to that level of harassment. It was horrific. It was really bad.”

  2. She doesn’t seem like she takes a lot of shit from anyone but…One of the greatest actors of our generation. Crazy range.

  3. The 90s and early 2000s was very much Skeletron female body ideals.

  4. I’m curious who the host was that made those comments to her. Maybe I’m just too lazy to look it up.

  5. I adore her. She’s an astonishingly great actor and a grounded approachable brave woman. She’s taken a lot of hideously hurtful and ugly attacks and has risen above it. She’s also got a great sense of humor. Outstanding human.

  6. Her attitude about showing her imperfections is what mine has come to be. I turned 40 and just went….if you don’t like how I look, don’t look. It’s exhausting to constantly be worried about how you look.

  7. I remember people at the time saying she looked like his mother even though she is almost a year younger than him.

  8. She had always been beautiful and rubenesq; and believe a majority of men would agree. She has Nothing to be ashamed of

  9. Shut up and take it, that’s what you have to pay for millions of dollars. Nothing stopping you from staying home and eating millions of cookies sitting on the sofa. If you want to be a movie star, eat fucking salads.

  10. Paparazzi are honestly pretty soulless when it comes to the profession of photography

  11. Winslet has always been awesome. Witty, strong, and gorgeous!

  12. I once read a review of a movie that Kate Winslet was in, which described her as “a character actress who just happens to look like a movie star.”

That stayed with me, because she’s so versatile and disappears into roles. She’s naturally beautiful but that’s never been the forefront of her career or public image. I really respect how she’s firmly pushed back against Hollywood beauty standards for decades now.
