The cost and economic impact of Trump’s mass deportation plans • FRANCE 24 English
As Donald Trump assembles his team ahead of a second term as US president next year, we focus on what his plans to massively deport millions of undocumented immigrants will cost and what impact it will have on the economy. The total tab could end up costing close to a trillion dollars over 10 years, and the plans could lead to severe labour shortages and troubles with food supply.

Like 80 billion dollars a year to deport 1 million people, the fix is in somewhere…wait over 300 billion dollars a year!
Nobody believes you Fran24. You have a migrant crises in Europe and the EU is talking about doing the same thing. Well at least some of the countries in the EU.
Trump is the equivalent of the UK's Brexit, well done America..
Why not come Legally?!
You better count how much money US already spent on illegal emigrants and how much they will pay for them in the future
You are happy that you have people working in the black without rights and documents in toxic and difficult jobs, experiencing the risk of exploitation and violence from their potential employers.
And does ur projections matter?u couldnt even cost accurately ur govts expenditures!
The social cost of not enforcing mass deportations – especially from Europe – is incalculable and permanent. Mass immigration has also contributed greatly to the lack of opportunities for young people and pushing home prices so high that most young people have little chance of ever owning one or being able to afford to raise a family.
167 Billion to detain immigrants. So if there are 1million illegal immigrants thats would be 167 thousand dollar per immigrant. Why the fck would it cost so much. Are they holding them in 5 star hotels ??
clearly the only way to do this is to deport everyone at once lol. What experts.
ignorant analyst, america will be better than your countries.
You're reporting information from the American Immigration Council as if it were an unbiased, undisputed fact. You should really call out that your figures come from an immigration advocacy group.
Slavery 🤷♂️ just give them documentation and give human rights to all.
WE DID IT IN THE 50S AND ARE STILL HERE ?
An enslaved person could produce approximately 5 pounds of lint cotton a day. Whitney's hand powered cotton gin could produce approximately 50 pounds of lint cotton a day. By the time of the Civil War, steam powered cotton gins were producing approximately 2,500 pounds of lint cotton a day. Expect a more robotized, advanced US workforce. EU sees everything as a problem. USA sees it as an opportunity.
Cost of NOT deporting them estimated 3Xs more.
This concerns France,??? How thoughtful 😂😂😂
You guys get your figures from the same polls for Harris?
Did I hear California has slave labor exposing people to harmful chemicals at farms?
😂😂😂America Is Fked Good
Every dollar it costs increases GDP. And we have the technology to automate agricultural labor.
You failed to mention the medical costs, education costs and legal costs the " migrants" are placing on the USA.
Additionally, the one time cost is less than what the USA has "given" to Ukraine this year alone.
The crops will not get picked argument has been disproven multiple times, and do not forget the farm workers in California have a labor union.
The unemployed citizens will fill the gap. The guest made a freshman error.
What makes you think Donald Trump will not be able to get it done cheaper? Not at first, but the overall net, especially after the reduction in crime and welfare payments will be positive.
1.2 milliion illegal immigrants work in our agricultural fields. 1.2 million citizens not at work. Enough said? Pay will go up, so what?
If over 170 billion was given to Zelensky for a proxy war. I am sure they can come up with money
The actual cost is a couple hundred each…Quit lying
From what I can tell, American farms will be turning from using immigrants to using prison labor, the only other cheap labor force there. To do that you would need a lot of prisoners, like if you were also promising to arrest "the enemy within". This is all conjecture of course, but definitely deserves watching.
Why the f do u care ? Take care of your own country
Where did u get your figure? Same source where u projected Scamala will win?
how can they pay into the tax system if they are undocumented?
Oh.
Tooo much
$$$$$$
But they don’t say how much is costing now for keeping this people inside,$350.00 a week shelters, hotels, clothings etc, etc, etc….!!
more openings for robots, automations, technologies and software
Now yall care about cost?
