1. Everything is cyclical. They probably saw some orcafluencer doing it.

2. I may be crazy, but I unironically think this is just an Orca meme.

   They are extremely intelligent and social animals, it’s possible they just wear salmon hats because they (and others) find it amusing.

   Not everything needs a logical explanation. Humans aren’t logical, why would we expect other animals to behave logically?
