The Queen is suffering from pneumonia, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

Camilla, 77, has been absent from parts of the state visit of the emir of Qatar because of illness, but did join the King and guests for lunch at Buckingham Palace.

The palace, which had previously only described her illness as a viral chest infection, confirmed that it was pneumonia.

Camilla is known to suffer from extreme tiredness since becoming ill and palace aides have built in “flex periods” to allow her to rest.

  4. Pneumonia at her age can be deadly. She shouldnt be anywhere except in bed tbh.

  5. It says it was a viral infection and “walking pneumonia” is typically bacterial (mycoplasma) and adults are more likely to get bacterial pneumonia in general. Viral pneumonias tend to be caused by common respiratory viruses rather than a type of bacteria typically described as bacterial, so saying that her illness is (viral) pneumonia doesn’t narrow down what illness actually caused it. it unfortunately sounds like this might be COVID, which is known to often have a rough post-infectious period, or maybe the flu.

  6. OMG. I hope she’s okay. Pneumonia is no joke, especially at age 77! She should rest as long as she needs to.
