NI Protocol: EU to refuse renegotiation on role of European Court of Justice

  1. Not long ago Boris and Co were saying this was the best deal in the world and that it didn’t need any of that parliamentary scrutiny nonsense.

  2. NI is not part of the EU. The EU attempting to impose its rule on part of the UK is no better than Putin imposing Russian rule on Crimea.

  3. Ireland and Northern Ireland are both in favour of the protocol. The UK government are sadly using it as a political weapon because they hold no other cards.

  4. Haha, did that dude deleted his comment because he realize he was promoting northern Ireland leaving the UK instead of them leaving the EU?

  5. Regardless of the way you feel about the protocol the fact that the ECJ is responsible for oversight is ridiculous. There have criticisms that it acts more as a political institution than an unbiased arbitrator for decades. Even if no other rules change the changing of this aspect, either by joint arbitration or inviting a third party in, would be fair, and if the upholding of the protocol and peace in NI is important to the EU fairness (and the perception of farness) should be a priority.
