If he is under sanctions, then anyone dealing with him is at risk of coming under sanctions themselves. Aughinish alumina will either lose customers or ask him to sell his share while it still has value.
If he is invested in Ireland, then he is protected by the same Irish laws that apply to all investors.
I am concerned by the mob psychology exhibited in many posts today on topics that touch the Ukraine crisis. We all agree that the crisis is a tragedy and want to see a peaceful resolution a quick as possible. However, we cannot act like a mob with pitchforks and torches going out to harm Russian civilians. We are a nation built on law and civil rights, including property rights. First you want to steal from a wealthy Russian and next you will want to steal from a Russia truck driver or shopkeeper. This type of thinking needs to stop immediately.
The governments should freeze these assets and make them state run. It would bring a lot of money into the government and help with the housing crisis
