Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has blamed the United States and Israel for the recent upsurge in terrorist activities in northern Syria, calling for the international community’s immediate and effective action to confront the resurgence of Takfiri terror groups in the Arab nation.

According to the reports of the Iranian news Agency Press TV, Araghchi stated, “We differentiate not between the occupiers of the Zionist regime and the Takfiri terrorists,” highlighting the Iranian government’s point that certain foreign actors fund militants for the sake of destabilizing the Middle East.

It is pertinent to mention here that, Takfiri is an Arabic term that refers to the act of accusing a fellow Muslim of being an apostate.

He denounced the renewed activity of Takfiri terrorist groups in Syria in the wake of a ceasefire agreement between Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement and Israel, saying the terrorists have regrouped with the support provided by the US and the Tel Aviv regime.

He also added that watchfulness must be kept by other neighbours and described that recent attacks by the rebel forces infringe the agreements on de-escalation in the frame of the Astana Process with Iran, Turkey, and the Russian Federation.

Araghchi underlined the need for “vigilance and coordination” on the part of regional countries, and also for an “immediate and effective” action by the international community in the face of the recent resurgence of terrorism in Syria.

Foreign-backed terrorists led by the Hayat Tahrir al-Shams (HTS) Takfiri group carried out a surprise assault in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib last week, and overran a number of villages and towns before entering Aleppo on November 27.
