  1. Didn’t this guy beat up Madonna in a domestic dispute? I’m not sure he should be judging anything.

  2. If the rumours are true regarding what he did to Madonna, in all honesty I could do without Sean Penn’s opinions. Full stop.

  3. You go, Sean. Call them out on not taking some chances.

  4. ‘Extraordinary cowardice’ is beating the shit out of several women throughout your adult life.

  5. Cowardice is subjective, risk adverse maybe, films are expensive to make.

  6. Why are folks mentioning madonna rumors – seems so irrelevant.

He’s right, but Hollywood being PC or scared to be as edgy nowadays has dampened creativity.

Anyway I’m gonna go see Wicked, see ya !

  7. He’s not my favorite but he’s right about that . Hollywood is destroying movies with superhero and franchise movies without any original material

  8. He’s right in that studios do not take nearly enough risks and rehash too much.

  9. He’s sort of right—kind of—but also is an absolute menace and abusive douchbag.

  10. Oh please. Hollywood is propaganda and always has been. He’s mad that it’s not making HIS type of propaganda

  11. My understanding of Sean Penn, from everything he has said over the last few years, is that he loves to get on his holier than thou soap box and complain. To who he is speaking I don’t know.

  12. Yea I think you’re correct . I used to go to the movies every weekend when I was a teenager in the early aughts, but it was less about seeing a movie as it was about socializing. I guess the yutes don’t hang out at the theatre anymore.

  13. It’s an industry that cares about ROI more than art. No doubt

  14. My favorite quote of his is, “I go to the movies to feel something. If you want to be entertained get a hooker and an eight ball”. Peak Penn.
