3. 12 years actually seems about right for that.

   Reading through that article, this was the definition of “an accident waiting to happen”. Guy was an absolute moron and it’s just horrible luck for the couple he hit, killing one, that they were the ones he eventually smashed into.

Not condoning his horrific driving, but the article says the other party involved was driving a Toyota Aygo, and was turning right across a main road when this pellet smashed into the passenger side of their car. Seems like they simply did not see him coming. Even if he was doing 70mph in a 30mph zone, you would see that car if you were looking ahead enough.

5. I remember when the mirror was a tabloid newspaper with a few ads in the sidebar. Now it’s an ad and cookie website with a few bits of clickbait in the margins

6. Banned for driving for 16 years. Why not forever? Why should he deserve a 2nd chance at driving when it’s clear he lack responsibility.

7. If you are driving recklessly, I think the car should be considered a weapon at that point and charged accordingly. Knives are appliances until you point it at someone, then it’s a weapon. I fail to see how cars are any different.
