Hi, like two months ago I hurt my shoulder in gym. Since that time the pain comes and go, I was thinking to go to local doctor but someone said no no you need to go to " Kiropraktikko " ( sorry I don't know what is it in English).

I checked the prices are crazy and I don't even know of it's worth it. I am wondering if someone has any idea what should I do or where to go ?

Thank you

  1. Stay away from them. Call health services. They’ll send you to doctor or physiotherapist.

  2. Chiropractors are not real doctors and can cause permanent damage

  3. Chiropractors don’t know shit, book an appointment with a real doctor.

  4. do not under any circumstances go to a chiropractor.

it is a scam. it was started by a crazy person who claimed to learn from a fucking ghost, it is not actual medicine and in the worst case scenarios it can seriously HURT you. there have been documented cases of people DYING from chiropractic treatment.

best case scenario: you overpay for a massage from a wildely unqualified person

worst case scenario: an alternative-meidicine nut causes serious injury

just go to a doctor, they will likely refer you to physical therapy and you will recieve actual, qualified help there

  5. My cousin did just that and the damage is now permanent “:D”
See a real doctor and/or a physical therapist

  6. As a physiotherapist, I can tell you that a chiropractor isn’t going to do shit. Go see a doctor and they’ll probably refer you to physiotherapy

  7. You need to go to physiotherapy “fysioterapeutti”. You can go to doctor 1st too, but most likely doctor orders you to see fysioterapeutti.

  8. Just to add to the other comments, don’t use a chiropractor.

Yes, they may lessen or remove your pain after a session. But they are not healing/fixing you permanently.

You will need a physiotherapist or a “sports doctor” to get rid of this injury.

If it’s anything like the Netherlands in Finland, anyone can become a chiropractor with just some courses and no actual study. It’s an alternative medical approach. Like for example herbal medicines.

  9. Those are a scam do not go there. As many have said, go see fysioterapeutti, it is a regulated title which takes about 3.5 years to get through studies. This is almost equal in lenght to going to school to be engineer .

  10. The only kind of chiropractor that is worth anything are the old viking style bone settlers, not cheap and hard to book , they stretch u out and talk about how to adjust ur posture, but even in that case , u go to a doctor first ,any of the bone settlers worth their keep are the ones who want to know that Information to prevent them from damaging u and to understand what u should actually be avoiding as movements and so forth .

Go to a doctor, get a scan , get Doctors advice and potentially a referral to a physio, if u go public sector , get a referral and can prove to kela u can’t afford the private doctor or physio referred to, u can potentially get financial help. If it’s considered necessary for ur health.

  11. Go to a doctor / physiotherapist

If the injury is not severe check out Squat University on youtube or instagram. He has a lot of good tips for fixing all kinds of issues, incl. shoulder issues.

  12. Depending on where you live it might even be possible to straight up book a time for physiotherapy.

Otherwise contact health centre and through doctors appointment either get answers from the doctor or get referred to physiotherapy.

But yeah, chiropractor is something I’d never really suggest as it can be more harmful than it’s worth.

  13. There’s really no such thing as ”alternative medicine”. If it’s scientifically proven to work, it’s just called ”medicine”. Everything else is a scam.

    Per Wikipedia:

”There is no conclusive evidence that chiropractic manipulative treatment is effective for the treatment of any medical condition, except perhaps for certain kinds of back pain”

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiropractic?wprov=sfti1

  14. Do note that most common shoulder problems don’t have a cure. Doctors in my experience can’t do much usually unless something is actually broken or torn. I have 1st hand experience and many 2nd hand experience of similar fate. Your case might be different but just to prepare you for a possible lifetime road of managing the issue.

    Chiros are a scam.

  15. I just wanna chime in on a completely different physical need; I had a mild scoliosis thorough my teens that the doctors and nurses said would just “stay that way – keep walking”. It was very painful but not enough for surgery. Welp, a friend knew a chiropractor that we accidentally met on a house party – lo and behold, this “dangerous” person checked my back and saw what my hips were wonky, causing the scoliosis. He did a lil pop, put the hip back into place and here I am – 10 years pain free and scoliosis free.

Yes they may be a scam, but so can be said from anyone who takes your money (doctors included).

  16. Most likely you will get pointed towards physical therapy (fysioterapia) and there you will be instructed various exercises wirh rubber bands etc. You can find similar ones on youtube.

But ofcourse there may be some actual serious damage so I would still contact medical professionals.

  17. I would suggest going to a real doctors appointment.
