I remember seeing this as a child in Dongeal where we had gone camping and it was late at night. You could see it so clearly and the thing that struck odd in my memory of it was how it was going “up and down” from North to South on our poles.
I remember telling friends that I could see this and that it was one of the tails of the Milky way Galaxy. None of them believed me cos they were all townies who grew up with light polution and could barely see any stars at all.
How beautiful
The Milky Way dancing above the Mournes, captured from Spelga Dam on November 27th. Truly cosmic.
Is that Andromeda, top middle brightest galaxy visible above the Milky Way? I’m totally lost in that pic as there’s hardly a star recogniseable.
Is that with a normal camera on an equatorial mount and stacking? I’d love to achieve results like this but I’ve no patience. I recently got a used Dwarf 2, it won’t get results like this but will make imaging a lot easier.
