    >“The Constitution is for Americans,” Adams told reporters at his weekly City Hall press conference. “I’m not a person that snuck into this country. My ancestors have been here for a long time.”

    >At his weekly City Hall press conference, the mayor had asserted that undocumented people who had committed crimes should be deported, suggesting that immigration authorities should not wait for them to stand trial. He was then asked to explain his position on due process, especially given his own legal circumstances.

    >The mayor has pleaded not guilty to federal corruption charges, which he has claimed were politically motivated. Trump has expressed sympathy for Adams, suggesting that he could offer the mayor a pardon.

    >Adams also repeated his desire to scale back the city’s sanctuary rules.

    Seems like a sick thing to say about other folks, I’m not sure how you can establish someone is undocumented without due process.

    So let’s read it.

    14th Amendment says, among other things:

    “No State shall…deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

    Now I am no lawyer or constitutional scholar, but the part where it says “No state shall deprive *any person* without due process” is pretty clear. Unless you are saying an “illegal” is somehow no longer a human person.

    Legal experts disputed Adams’ statement.

    “The mayor’s claim has no basis in law,” said Elora Mukherjee, the director of the Immigrant Rights Clinic at Columbia Law School. “The laws set forth in the Constitution generally apply to everyone present in U.S. soil whether or not they are a citizen and regardless of their immigration status.”

  20. He is not a very smart person as evident by his work as an unregistered agnent for Turkey. Clearly he is no scholars and totally, ethnically, bankrupt.

    What about all the other visitors in the US? For just a little longer, he is the mayor of one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. In the eyes of the law, these distinctions create major problems.

  23. Isn’t a part of the point of due process so that if someone is *falsely* accused of being undocumented, they have an opportunity to gather and present the relevant information?

  25. Every SCOTUS bench, at the very least every one prior to the Robert’s Court, disagree and have ruled, all the way back to the founding, that the Constitution applies equally to all persons within the US.

  28. The Constitution explicitly affords due process to all people.  It does not say citizens.

  30. He blames them for his own incompetence. His inability to manage the crisis, his lack of political capital to spend to get the resources he needed, and his general inability to do anything right that doesn’t also include a paper bag filled with cash has been his undoing.

  31. Adams knew who to hitch his wagon to the minute Trump got elected. Instant get out of jail free card if he kisses the ring. This time next year he won’t be a Democrat anymore, much like RFK and Tulsi.
