Man has a finely tuned plan to keep himself in the media every so often, more like
I feel like it’s easy to laugh at this guy, but at the same time how would I react if I thought 500 million quid slipped through my fingers like that?
He clearly isn’t living in reality. And five hundred million is an amount that could ensure you and your friends and family never have to live in reality again.
And what happens to the bill for the entire operation if he gets approval, manages to find the hard-drive and none of the information is recoverable?
This guy has been in the news every couple of months for nearly 10 years, he must’ve already earned a pretty penny from all this compilation of compo faces
Unfortunately for him the hard drive belongs to the council (anything dumped at the council tip becomes their property).
At this point he is just torturing himself with the slimmest of chances. It’s understandable, considering the value of the potential find, but at some point he’s going to have to accept It’s a lost cause, or spend the rest of his life chasing a ghost.
If you finely tune impossible it’s still impossible.
There is simply no way that he’ll be able to recover the data off that drive even if he does manage to retrieve it.
All that time sitting in landfill, that drive is toast. Zero chance of data recovery.
At this point, I’m fed up with him. I say just let him, but he’s only allowed a shovel.
Like the plot of *Holes*
Of course no body knows whether his story is true do they?
Stig of the dump is in the news again. The third time this week by the look of it.
This assumes he is going to sell it all once he finds it. He will have an astronomical tax bill – like circa £100M. Maybe he should be asking HMRC to get involved so they can have their slice.
Pity he didn’t go with his first ‘finely tuned plan’ of not putting his hard drive in the fucking bin.
Dîckhead.
What I don’t understand is the police searched a dump for 2 weeks for that RAF chap and never found a body. And that was not long after he went missing. This guy surely has no chance to find something 1% the size of a body
He’s still at it?! Fucking hell. Fair play, I’d have given up well before now lmao.
Can we just organise a country-wide whip round so he fucks off? I can’t be the only one sick of reading about him?
If he’d just put a few quid into bitcoin every month since he realised his mistake he’d be set for life. Instead he has dedicated his life to this battle!
If this was a mechanical hard drive, it’s probably fucked by now. The amount of water it must be submerged in, there’s a very high chance they wouldn’t be able to get the image from it even if they found it.
An utterly futile exercise considering it’s now been years since he lost it.
He’s a fool. Any data on it will be utterly irretrievable by now, even with cutting edge forensics.
Even if he finds it, which he won’t, there’s no hope.
If he finds it good on him but this is just ridiculous.
He never had 500m so he actually hasn’t lost it.
If I kept every Pokemon card I had from 1999 to 2003 I’d have a stash worth about £50,000.
If I said “Yes” to a cashier at Sainsbury’s kiosk at Uni in 2011 to playing the Dream Number on my Lotto ticket, I’d have won £25,000 because my numbers came up.
But I never had that 25k in the first place. I’ve not lost it.
This man needs to get over it. When he lost his hard drive it was worth pennies. NOW it’s worth 500mil. He lost pennies, not 500mil.
A system that only lets you access your asset via a hard drive? Seriously why does anyone get excited about crypto
I watched a video once about how landfills work, there’s quite a of science and engineering that goes into it and from what I understand one of the main challenges is managing drainage, moisture from bin juices + rainfall has to go somewhere and you want to get rid of it before the juice enters the water table and all the stuff downstream of that. Layman’s understanding though, but that’s what I took away from the video
Just wondering even if they did recover it, would it even be recoverable and not a bin juiced mess? I know hard drives are pretty solid constructions, sealed etc but when exposed to tonnes of landfill above it surely its enough pressure to crack casings and let the juice in. idk
Even if he could find it (he won’t) the HDD will be rusted and crushed, making the data irrecoverable.
Butters are the strangest people, they think the laws of physics don’t apply
Just get a job at the tip and have a look for it on your lunchbreak
Oh god, not this clown-shoe again. He pops up every year like a hard drive full of bitcoins doesn’t.
In 50 years time, this will be the real bitcoin mining
I’m surprised he hasn’t turned his ‘hunt for missing treasure’ infamy into a youtube channel, that’s one way to make something out of it
Ultimate gambler fallacy is money you “had” if you’d just done something differently
Bloke needs to delete the app that’s showing how much that bitcoin is value at now…. Checking it daily and not having it is destroying his mental health. He is never finding that wallet after all these years… weather, vermin, big trucks driving over it… let it go mate and move on…. Just say you put it all on black and it came in red… It’s done.. Cry about it for a little while then move on like everyone else has said.
Little does he know the tip man’s son has been using that PC to play Minecraft for 5 years
This man finds his Bitcoin
.. it’s over for us.
It will go to zero – He’s my number 1 bull market indicator, you can stick those green candles up your arse.
I only search for 1 sign – this man’s mug on page 2 of every tabloid in the UK.
Let’s hope they remain encrusted in the detritus of Cymru for all eternity.
This bloke popping up in the news is my litmus test for a crypto boom
Every now and again I put my hand down the back of the sofa hoping to find a few pound coins ……
The landfill owner has already turned it upside down in his own search, that’s why.
This clown needs to get over it and move on.
