But you see, the height difference artificially increases the man’s reach, allowing him to reach the woman’s hitbox before she can reach his. This is really just an unfair advantage. Incidentally this is also why it is foolish to invade the Glorious Netherlands.
Actually it was used as a sort of punishment for two people that were sentenced to death, the winner was allowed to live as a sort of godly sentence (Gottesurteil).
It was forbidden for people that knew the each other to fight like this, at least 5 grades of family separation.
Do they fight until one dies? If so, would dispute mean divorce in this case?
For the record this has long been a bit of a meme of sorts, but has virtually no historical basis.
It’s entirely based on a couple of illustrations by the Renaissance writer Hans Tolhoffer in a section of a book about ideas for trials by combat, with one on how to make such an idea fair between a man and woman – not presented as law, or standard practice, or a tradition, but from the lack of external evidence and even inferring from his own wording, is just his own idea about how it could be done between a man and woman, as a thought experiment. Even then, it doesn’t say it’s between a married couple, and as you can even see RIGHT THERE the man has both arms free and in front of him, even if one is reaching up lower than the other.
Actually based, equal rights, equal fights.
Me n who
I do not wanna be ‘Well actually’ but this was
1stly NOT ONLY FOR MARRIED people it was Trial by combat like in Game of Thrones which happened very rarely! And you couldn’t just do a Tyrion and demand it, it was only allowed in cases where there was no evidence. The reason why OP thought it’s for marriage disputes is because that picture one of the only tdo accounts of a man fighting a woman is indeed showing a couple – currently getting divorced.
2ndly NOT counseling but fighting to death! The looser will be executed the man wins if he can drag the woman into his hole, the woman wins if she pulls him out and if one looses counciousness the remaining person wins.
As if men in all of known history would have ever given women a break. As if men had ever actually passed a law that would get them in a hole in the ground and let a women use a bag of stones on them.

Medieval Germany seems more progressive than araps in 2024
