Step 1: Get married
Step 2: use joined income and FTB allowance to buy gaff
Step 3: Divorce
Step 4: both use FTB again to buy two more houses
Step 5: re-marry
Step 6: MEGA LANDLORD OMNOMNOM RENT
While in my opinion the likes of help to buy (which is problematic in itself) should be strictly for first time buyers, it would be great if the lending rules were relaxed for separated/divorced people so they could get 90% LTV if they had insufficient equity in their previous home to meet the 20% requirement for second time buyers. Saving 10% is so bloody hard, imagine a divorced father trying to save 20%, pay maintenance and renting. On most salaries it would be impossible unless there was significant equity in the family home, assuming that home could even be sold if children were involved.
It should also not apply to the spouse when you marry
Absolutely brilliant idea, too many divorced men fucked over having to pay a mortgage on a house they dont live in with no hope of getting another
Great idea, now ireland just needs to actually make getting a divorce more accessible for people. None of this 2/3 years living apart before you can even apply stuff.
Am I the only one who thinks this guy looks like fat bastard?
I think we should treat married and divorced people the same: like idiot children.
