  1. This is really encouraging to me. The traditional idea of a cemetery has always felt to me like a strong expression of a sense of separation from the rest of the natural world. As we collectively heal that sense of separation, it only makes sense that our idea of what a cemetery is evolves with it. Local ecologies will thrive as a result of this kind of stewardship.

  2. When I die, please just wrap me in a hemp fiber burial cloth and bury me upright in a hole somewhere and plant a tree on top.

  3. highly encourage anyone to visit greenwood. went on a tour and it’s beautiful what they’re trying to do. As per usual, the new owners of recent gravestones fight really hard to keep their lots full of grass, which is frustrating. They only rewild the plots from the 1800’s now. Interestingly, they are in a warmer microclimate than the rest of NYC, so they easily grow Live Oak and Longleaf Pine
