  1. From net salary subtract the taxes (including student “loan”) then subtract rent if they’re renting as well (as that is usually a cost that comes with a job now (as most people have to move for work).

Then that number is realistically comparable to what Boomers live on.

  2. So if someone did make £100,000, what would they actually live off after tax?

  3. Boomer here.

Me and my good lady live off approximately £36000 a year, gross.

I say approximately because I’m self-employed and my income fluctuates. We’re content with our life though, largely because we aren’t grasping, entitled shits.

    Fight me.

  4. Lmao, I earn less than 20k, maybe he should live within his means

  5. Things also overheard in San Francisco (where I live) but multiply that 100k by 2.5

  6. These posts are ridiculous and come across whiney and entitled.

It’s more than nearly every boomer lived on. They didn’t have holidays and tech all the time they saved

Lifestyle choices are hugely important. People are so entitled now a day’s.

Yes houses are expensive but not if you actially stop spending for a bit like your parents did to save up.

    100k and I don’t have anything…. he’s probably blown it all on funding the guardian…. 😅🤣😂

  7. To be fair to him the govt is swiping half of that off rip, but it’s still a top 1% salary and should be more than enough if he doesn’t have a family to feed
