I was searching for jobs in Germany in 2020 and applied for some form of work permit with the anticipation that I’ll get an offer before I am invited for the work permit interview. It’s been quite a long time, and I have forgotten the type of work permit that I applied for.

I later got an offer from a company in another country in 2020 and I entirely forgot about this.
Today, I got an email inviting me for a work permit interview in April.

Please, I need clarification on the capabilities of this work permit. Does it grant me the ability to relocate to Germany while I keep searching for jobs? Also, can I go to the job permit interview without a ready offer? Any other information or advice that you can throw my way will be appreciated.

Here are pictures of the emails I got when I did the application and another inviting me for the interview: [https://imgur.com/a/NXltvvK](https://imgur.com/a/NXltvvK)

Thanks a lot!

  1. Since the email says long term visa it’s very unlikely that you applied for a job seeker visa which would allow you to move and look for a job, since that kind of visa has a legal limit.

You most likely applied for a visa that’s issued based on the job that you have, and you won’t get it granted if you don’t have a concrete job offer.

The only way you can know for sure is to get that information from the embassy

  2. “Generally, international skilled workers from third countries must apply
for a visa at the German embassy in their country of origin before
entering Germany. **When doing so, presenting a signed employment contract**
    **is an important prerequisite**.”
