I’m from Sweden and trying to make some karjalanpaisti for tomorrow to celebrate Finnish independence day, but unfortunately the instructions are unclear 😅

  1. This is the recipe I am going to use: [https://www.martat.fi/reseptit/karjalanpaisti/](https://www.martat.fi/reseptit/karjalanpaisti/) . But unfortunately the translate feature in Firefox was not so cooperative!

Gonna be fun to watch the broadcast on Yle tomorrow and see what Mr. Stubb has to say 🙂. Hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää / trevlig självständighetsdag to our awesome neighbors!

  2. Better go find some sluts for your karjalanpaisti (But if you dont find willing sluts you can replace with piece of turnip.)

  3. I dont know why its translated like that but its Lanttu = Rutabaga

  4. If it’s unclear what Karelian stew meat is, it is around 60-40 mix of pork and beef respectively, chopped into cubes of around 2 by 2 cm

  5. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why we do not use machine translation for things that really matter.

    Sincerely yours, a professional translator.

  6. How wonderful of you to celebrate and respect our independence day❤️

I’m a social worker and will be serving free karjalanpaisti tomorrow to people who maybe dont have money or company to celebrate.
    But everyone are welcome 🙂

  7. One whole teaspoon of salt into 1.5kg pot. Wow. Explosion of flavors.

  8. That’s how my grandmother used to make it until we ran out of sluts.

  9. Carrots and sluts sounds like the makings of party in my hometown of Tervola! Mighty!

  10. Yeah. I don’t usually like sludge in my Karelian pot. I understand it’s the traditional way and some people like it but not my favourite. I think sluts can work but my wife cannot stand so usually we leave those out too.
