Anyone who is angry about this should know that it’s far from just Scholz – [literally last week](https://www.reuters.com/world/top-us-russian-generals-spoke-by-phone-amid-tensions-2024-12-05/) the top brass of the US and Russia called each other. It’s good, actually, for all of us that they maintain communication; imagine if Russia were silent about the Oreshnik launch and the US genuinely thought they were launching a nuke. Nothing bad can happen from maintaining a telephone line with even your biggest geopolitical adversaries

2. This is the geopolitical version of all the tsk tsk articles saying you must stay on Twitter and engage with its shithead, knuckle dragging userbase.

   No, you really do not have to spend the limited time you have on Earth having pointless conversations with psychopaths. Maybe spend the time you would’ve spent doing that dealing with leaders of developing nations before China locks up all the rare earth minerals that power the entire modern economy or something else equally useful,
