Very interesting infographic from voronoi that puts the case of Switzerland into perspective, far from the clichés we may have.
You can see quite clearly that Switzerland is a country with very high levels of inequality (just like the USA) that functions well despite everything (unlike the USA). We seem to find the same configuration with Singapore and its autocratic model.
Interestingly, median wealth is close to that of the UK, which has a much lower cost of living.
Germany not even in the Top 20 in median wealth?
This is all just house values, isn’t it?
Very nice median….. now let’s compare the bottom
10% of the respective populations. Or even the bottom 1%
Isn’t this simply function of how many people own properties and how expensive they are? That’s why average Italian has more wealth than average German or Austrian.
🤣 Germany ain‘t even on the median list anymore…
This reflect reality quite well. And puts Switzerland into the category of Singapore. Some are really rich, most people are just getting by.
to talk about what I know.
The average Frenchman owns their home and the average Swiss does not.
Very misleading for Luxembourg, the poor can’t live there and need to live in France, Belgium or Germany
These stats mean nothing, there’s too many factors to consider. One being pensions. If you include pension savings in overall wealth, there’s a massive bias towards capitalizing systems
Switzerland only tops the average list because wealthy Russians and Arabs live there. average Swiss aren’t better off than other western countries. It’s all a fake facade. Most Swiss cannot even afford a house or an apt.
Sorry to bring down the average!
I look at those numbers and bring both values down FML
50% of my father’s wealth was liquid assets, but then the aftershock of the global recession hit and then that all dried up in less than a decade. I didn’t realize how good I had it as a child until the family’s wealth was essentially just 1 house in the mountains.
