  10. In general, using this version of the photo to deliberately obscure the appearance of half of these demonstrators seems a little insensitive. I understand *why* someone might prioritize the importance of appearing as “normal” as possible instead of a right-wing caricature. It just strikes me as somewhat disrespectful.

  16. I don’t get this. Bathrooms should be about privacy no matter the gender, that should be the argument not that whoever can go into wherever.

  18. Though bathroom bans are a real expression of the right wing’s ignorance and contempt, they also use items like this to inspire indignation and to distract from their own incompetence. I think this demonstration and its news coverage unfortunately plays into their game and shows how easily we take their bait.

    I believe we need more rhetoric like this, calling out the right wing for having zero solutions: (From Sarah McBride herself) “This is a blatant attempt from far right-wing extremists to distract from the fact that they have no real solutions to what Americans are facing. We should be focused on bringing down the cost of housing, health care, and child care, not manufacturing culture wars. Delawareans sent me here to make the American dream more affordable and accessible and that’s what I’m focused on.” and “I’m not here to fight about bathrooms, I’m here to fight for Delawareans and to bring down costs facing families. Like all members, I will follow the rules as outlined by Speaker Johnson, even if I disagree with them. This effort to distract from the real issues facing this country hasn’t distracted me over the last several days.”

  24. The first time Speaker Johnson is standing at a urinal and Congresswoman Mcbride walks in, I have a feeling rules will change.

  25. So I went to an event called pax prime in 2016 at the Seattle convention center. That year was the first year that they made all the bathrooms gender-neutral. You know what happened? Nothing. People went in, did their business, talked to random people at the faucet and towel rack and left. Once you realize no one cares you’re just glad that there’s a lot more stalls.
