It’s a losing issue. It will never be taken super seriously.
They will put a price on a licence and make it so impossible for poor people to own a gun. Solved.
kinda funny that 2 yr ago the right got the supreme court to repeal the ban on conceal & carry in NYC
In my lifetime, ever since Charles Whitman climbed that tower in Texas and gunned down all of those people, the U.S. as a whole has never seriously considered gun control.
Nearly 60 years later, the mass killings continue.
We must assume that the U.S. considers mass murder to be acceptable.
Once rich people start losing children, like poor people have been for decades, then we’ll get gun control.
i wager that it will never happen-one CEO can just be replaced by another.
Wealth hoarders trying to push gun control after wealth hoarders get gunned down is probably the worst thing that could happen to gun control.
It needs to become a trend like eating cinnamon
Watch the gun lobby fat cats go at it with the health insurance lobby fat cats.
Trump will make gun control great again, but won’t realize how terribly unpopular it will be with even the step on me daddy crowd.
This will never happen as wealthy CEOs will just hire more security and continue to make shitty decisions that further hurt the poors.
Never. It will never happen, because there is zero political will to do so.
They didn’t even blink when Trump was shot at. Of course, most of Republican leadership hates him. They’re just too cowardly to face him. Got to think most were privately disappointed he was missed. Now, if the big donors start dropping, that’s another ball game. Particularly if it’s the biggest donor.
Historically, gun control laws have disproportionately been enforced, I’m presuming more of the same
Isn’t this how the French Revolution started? /s
“Let them pay for their healthcare!”
Hope they get more before they do
Republican congressman Steve Scalise was literally shot by a left-wing activist and still eagerly licks the boots of the gun lobby. I don’t know what could change their position at this point.
It’s gonna take a couple more assassinations. In the meantime, buying personal security company stocks might not be a bad idea.
they’ll just hire more security, hide their public identity and build bigger walls.
They’ll just get private police.
It won’t make a bit of difference.
What it *will* do is, open up the newest most dynamic investment opportunity ever … private security; and they will get top dollar for their services.
What I *do* hope is a more obvious result is for insurance companies to be more compassionate to their subscribers and authorize previously standard medical care.
Better yet … universal medical care what every other major industrial countries in the world have; *IT IS CHEAPER.*
Several tears ago I read that while the USA population has enough guns to last 100 years, there’s only enough ammo to last 2 years. So, stop the ammo, and most gun violence will stop. I know there are folks that self load, pour their own lead, etc, but for the most part, it should stop the street violence.
Things are gonna get worse before they get better, I’m afraid.
I’ve been recommending my fellow progressives, lefties, and even liberals to arm themselves for years now.
I don’t want the Christofascists to be the only armed contingent in our society. Fuck that noise.
100$ on like 50 years, maybe.
I mean, The Black Panthers got guns and Ronald Reagan immediately put a stop to that with the munford act.
This will have no effect on gun control
When hell freezes over.
Sorry to say, but if Sandy Hook and Uvalde weren’t persuasive enough, nothing is!
Honestly, it’s kind of wild how there were two assassination attempts on a presidential candidate within a few weeks from each other and nothing really changed in terms of gun control.
Maybe DumbOld Sr will put Eric in charge of the ATF or something…
>“My father is running out of lives here,” son Eric Trump told Fox News’s Sean Hannity. “How many more rifles are going to come within assassination distance of my father?”
That’s the thing about these super wealthy sociopaths. What happens to some other unfortunate wealthy shmuck doesn’t have any impact on them. They’re, in their minds, untouchable.
They also don’t give a shit. I mean, two hours after this CEO was killed, they started the investor meeting he was scheduled to run, on time.
The inability to understand the absurd optics of that (forget about actually caring, we’ve established that that don’t), in and of itself, serves to underscore the whole disconnect from reality these people operate in, with a singular focus on financial gain.
Nevermind the stock price jumped $15 at that opening bell, two hours after the murder.
I bet right now, a bunch of these dirtbags are scheming for his position without a care in the world outside of “how can I financially gain from *what’s his name dying or whatever*”.
Poor rising up will get corporations to beef up security.
Minorities rising up will get politicians to pass laws restricting guns.
It’s the predictable outcome…
Thoughts and prayers lol
Unfortunately this isn’t realistic.
What actually happens is the rich hire their own corporate security with guns to gun you down if you get too close to them.
This is the perfect example of what people use to justify their beliefs, unfortunately. This was clearly a motivated murder, and one might easily surmise that it was definitely going to happen, but the weapon of choice was a gun because it was easiest and safest for the attacker. This could have easily been a stabbing, a chemical attack, or an explosive.
Therefore, my prediction is once again, “This was an isolated incident that couldn’t have been prevented,” according to the only country where this sort of thing happens regularly.
Morally bankrupt wealthy people. Love it.
A few more copycats and they’ll be all over gun control like flies on shit.
No, CEO’s are going to surround themselves with private armies, and build that expense into the cost of our healthcare
Not long, Reagan started signing gun laws in California once the Black Panthers started walking around with guns.
Any gun control we see now would be so disappointing. It would mean that one CEO is worth more than 10 classrooms full of kids
“*When the rich rob the poor, it’s called business – but when the poor fight back, it’s called violence.*”
This shooting won’t change a thing. The NRA won on Nov 5th.
Eat the rich!
If Sandy Hook didn’t correct our course, nothing will.
Doubt it’ll change anything, outside of the obscenely wealthy getting or increasing bodyguards. It would likely take a decent amount of the MAGA party feeling like they’re at risk before they even consider common sense laws.
The road to tighter gun control is paved with the bodies of evil CEOs? Works for me.
Nah. CEO security details will become the norm. Probably with a big tax write off.
If only there had been a good guy with a gun to stop that man
Much like abortion, guns will always be available to the wealthy no matter what the laws say.
If wealthy people were regularly targeted like this, they’d pass gun control overnight with wildly bipartisan support.
As long as the plebs are murdering each other, the wealthy will never give a shit.
